Tracking My [Lunar] Cycle | Lifestyle

Something that I’m finally getting around to is tracking my cycle.

I was reading something online about Native Americans calling a woman’s time of the month her ‘moon time’. I am absolutely loving that term. I’m sure there are more cultures that use that verbiage, but in the society we live in, we definitely don’t use that term. And it’s definitely not a time we really talk about. In public. Or private. Or ever.

Unless you hang out with me because I talk about this shit all the damn time. It’s something that happens once a month – It’s an ever-present shadow. How can you not acknowledge that?

Anyways, I digress. Where was I going with this post? Oh right. Tracking my cycle.

So, back before pregnancy (B.P), I was the absolute worst at know if when to expect my period. I was terrible at counting the days, I was always wrong and never prepared. So once I started getting my period regularly (which happened about 3 months after birth… not long enough in my opinion) I paid more attention.

First thing I noticed was my flow changes. That sucked. Then I noticed that my cycle pretty much lined up with the full moon. How awesome is that? Made it super easy to track. And then it shifted a bit and now it’s with the New Moon. Also still easy to track.

So, I’ve got the period tracked. Now I want to track my ovulation. Not only will that make things easier for trying to get pregnant a second time, but it helps me understand my moods and is a good way of getting me more in tune with my femininity. I’m kind of using this as my jumping point for getting down with the metaphysical and finding my own path to my craft. Oddly enough I wrote this post out before deciding to finally finish reading some of my spiritual TBR pile (Material Girl, Mystical World) and Ruby has a whole chapter dedicated to this exact thing. Clearly, I’m not the first or the last to use our moon time to manifest our sacred goddess code (Ruby’s words, not mine).

So far, so good. I’m using my passion planner to count the days and it seems to be going well. If there’s one thing pregnancy has been good for its realigning my schedule. And making me more aware of changes in my body.

I’m not tracking anything really major. Just when it happens, and how many days it lasts. I have a lunar tracker as well in my calendar so I can see how it lines up. Nothing too crazy. Not really tracking ovulation/fertile times yet – that’ll probably happen when I decide that I’d like to get pregnant again! Although, it’s probably a good thing to do if you’re not trying to conceive.

Do you track your cycle? How do you like to do it? Or are you like me and just don’t pay attention!
