In the next year, Andrew and I are going to be doing a lot of traveling. And not for vacations, but for weddings.
A destination wedding seem to be the big thing with this round of engaged couples, and I have a love/hate with them. I love the fact that I get to travel but I hate how much they cost!!
I’ve mentioned this one already, but the first destination wedding (for me) is Vancouver. Then we were invited to the Dominican Republic for another. And then the final one will be to Pakistan.
Travel wise, I’m definitely the most excited for Pakistan because, Pakistan! How cool is that for a wedding, and the chances that I’d actually go there otherwise are slimmer. Plus, we can throw in a couple other countries at the same time. I think we’re going to spend some time in Turkey (and maybe Greece?!) (or maybe the other side… India or Thailand!). Dominican Republic will be nice because it’s all-inclusive, and Andrew and I have been wanting to go down South during the winter since we’ve started dating, but never got around to it (we had other trips that took up our vacation time). It’ll be nice to just relax on a beach and get a tan in the middle of winter. Toasty!
I’m not a huge fan of the destination wedding – I’d much rather elope with Andrew and then come home and have a huge party to celebrate our nuptials. But Andrew won’t elope, so that’s out of the question. Well, I guess I’d need to be asked first… hah. (We have talked about it, we just aren’t engaged… yet…)
The only sad thing about this is that my vacation time will be done before we’re halfway through the year. But it’ll be worth it! I can’t actually wait. I’ve actually even been saving money like it’s my job and I’m getting better at it too. *thumbs up* So we should be ok for money to actually go to all these trips.
What do you think of destination weddings? Have you been on any? Would you have one? Let me know!
