I feel like as a mom of two, I should probably have my shit more together.

Don’t get me wrong, some days I do have my shit together. But most days I feel like I’m not mature enough to have a husband, 2 children, and a house. Some days I’m walking into the grocery store with my kids and having the most surreal moment of “Is this my life?” and “Am I old enough to be living this life?”

It’s just… the little things.

Most days (especially with a newborn) the kitchen doesn’t get cleaned immediately, toys are strewn around the living room, and don’t even get me started on the laundry.

It really is true: do a little every night and it won’t seem like such a daunting task at the end of the week.

The hard part is sometimes getting the energy to do that 15 minutes at the end of the night. Or right now, as we get back into the routine of having a newborn, finding the time when the baby isn’t sleeping or wanting to be held. I always feel so much better when the house is clean and organized but I find it so difficult to keep it up. Anyone else with me?

I’ve purchased a couple of things to help make my life easier, especially when it comes to organization and “everything having its place”. Amazon Prime, I am looking at you coming in with for the win with 2-day shipping. I purchased some fabric storage cubes that have been in my shopping cart for months. These are to help me store things like diapers, washcloths, winter accessories, and other miscellaneous baby stuff.

organization, OXO Pop Containers

I’m kind of obsessed with these drawer organizers and I need something to store Andrew’s excessively large hoodie collection. Another new thing I’ve added for better storage are these Oxo POP containers for the kitchen cupboards. I also bought all these chalk labels because I love how they look and the reusability of them.

Honestly, that’s my biggest problem with the organization – not everything has a place.

My excuse right now is that because I don’t have a basement. A lot of the stuff doesn’t have a home and while true for some things, I definitely could rehome or get rid of more. Or just figure out a way to store it better?

Take my extensive washi tape collection (which honestly, isn’t even that bad). It’s just so disorganized it looks like clutter. I’ve got my eye on this storage box from Michael’s since the drawers I’m using aren’t working well for me.

I know that Instagram isn’t a true depiction of anyone’s life, but it would be nice to have a more Instagrammable home.

And eventually, we will? I’m just not one for decor. We’ve been in the house for 4 years and I still haven’t put up any of the artwork that I own.

The backyard is 90% complete. Our house is finally almost complete, with only the basement left. Fingers crossed I can adult enough and get it decorated.

Maybe in the next 4 years, it’ll be perfect?
