Life :: Apartment Organization

Ever since I’ve been back from vacation, I’ve been super inspired to get my whole apartment reorganized. Just due to timing, this will be a lengthy process, spanning the next couple of weeks.

Sunday was the best weather for it, cold and raining all day, but I mainly focused on the office; namely, Andrew’s company organization. While I work back here as well, majority of the time it is covered in paper from Andrew’s side of life. And lately, because I’m behind in everything to deal with paper (scrapbooking, journaling, photos, etc) my side has been covered in boxes.

So this weekend I jumped right into the office. I cleaned up everything I could from my side, dumped it into a box, and pushed it into the living room. Clearing off desk space helps me think, and then I could lay out and organize paper that belonged together. I figured I’d deal with my own mess either later, or another day. I was really only able to do the bare minimum in organization, mainly because Andrew wasn’t there.

I think my favourite thing that I did was reorganize the cabinet where we display our breakable stuff, finally fixing all the cords under his desk, putting the papers all in a pile so he could sort it out later, and sweeping! Getting everything off the floor is one of my biggest challenges, especially in the office since Andrew’s closet is there, and he has a terrible habit of throwing everything on the floor if he doesn’t need it (ie recycling papers). I definitely have to work on that with him…

Unfortunately I didn’t take an “after” image right when I finished. I got home last night and the office looked like it exploded. Again. So I will have to take another picture another time. After I clean it again.

So, my next steps right now are to get some more storage containers, and label the crap out of them. (Love that Andrew bought a labeller) And then I can empty out the boxes of stuff that I need to organize and get that done. Put some of the things into picture frames and get those hung up on the walls.

And then I can move onto the kitchen. It never ends.
