An adjustable hair scrunchie?

This post contains items that were gifted. All opinions are my own.

I’m going to start this off by saying: I am not a scrunchie girl. I’ve always used regular no pull elastics, and it took me a long time to change from that. I’m also constantly changing hair lengths, so hair ties haven’t always been a top priority for me. In the past year, I just switched over to Invisibobbles and I feel like that was a mission.

Although, once I switch to something better, I rarely look back.

Now I’m growing out my hair again; no more undercut and longer so that means that I have thick hair back. Being at home with the kids means that I rarely have my hair loose. It’s always up in the mom bun or a high pony. 12 or more hours of my hair being up? My head hurt. I was also constantly fussing with my hair. I have 2 boys who love to wrestle so my hair rarely stays in one place.

When I got the email about trying this brand out, I was a bit on the fence. Like I said above, not a scrunchie girl. But I looked into them, read their story, and I was so inspired. I felt that even if I didn’t love the product I loved the back story and that alone was worth the share.

HairStrong is a Canadian brand! Nicole, the founder, is from Holland Landing, Ontario. She went to Western University and while she was there, she created HairStrong for her business project. I was barely scraping through college and Nicole was creating an amazing business. To have all this by 24 is pretty amazing! Also, makes me feel really old but that’s neither here nor there.

These scrunchies are adjustable, helps reduce hair damage with their softer materials, and are handmade in Canada. Nicole sent out a couple of samples for me to try: the Original Strongband and the Nano Tough Strongband. The strongbands come in 3 different sizes, Nano Tough being the smallest, and the Extra Tough being the largest.

Since I’ve had these (just over a month) I’ve used these every. single. day.

And I’m officially converted. They do take a little practise to get used to them and get a tight fit at first but now they’re super simple to use. I use them as a pony or for a mom bun and I love that I can set it and forget it. When I use it in a basic pony, I definitely forget about it and have zero headaches or scalp pain with them. The mom-bun is tighter on my hair, probably because of the way I do it. I find that once the kids go to bed I have to take it out.

I love that I don’t have to constantly be fixing my hair from slipping out. The only notable times are when my kids actively grab my hair or try to “brush” it for me, but I don’t think anything will withstand that.

These are easy to clean, just hand wash (they recommend washing in the shower when you do) and air dry.

Originally, these are for women athletes.

Nicole is a competitive rower, so it makes sense that women athletes and fitness buffs would be the prime audience for these. While I’m no fitness junkie these would be perfect for any kind of workout and any lifestyle. I’ll get back into some kind of fitness and these will be my go-to’s but I’m absolutely in love with these! Definitely recommend, and definitely will repurchase.

They come in tons of colours and are reasonably priced. For them being a small business and being made in Canada, it’s worth the money. I know that I’ve spent way more than that over the years on elastics that snap or get super stretched out.
