DIY: Chalkboard Spice Jars

Source: etsy.com via Susannah on Pinterest

I found this DIY on a board in Pinterest, and I couldn’t wait to get started. The only thing holding me back? Not actually having any supplies on hand. But then Mom went to Ikea and picked me up some spice jars, and I picked up chalkboard paint and last weekend I got cracking.

I have eight little jars, and I decided that using a paint brush and doing thin layers until I had the opaque-ness that I was happy with. Plus, since the thinner you go, the faster it is for it to dry! I do recommend letting it dry for as long as you can… Definitely helps. I let mine dry over night once I had about 2 coats on them, and this weekend [if I find time] I’m definitely going to give them another one. They’re almost there, but not quite.

I’m so excited for how they turned out. So cute! And will look so much better in the cupboard than the mess that’s in there now. I’m all about the organization! Or at least I try to be. Andrew was laughing at me because we were discussing my linen cupboard and I said that where my linens are now are killing me *cue theatrical drama queen voice* and he just laughed. And said that he’d make me another shelf for in there so he can store his pop and empty beer bottles/cans. I guess that’s kind of helpful to me? Well it is. It’ll get them off my floor in my dining room. The really nice thing is that Andrew brings me awesome things home. Like toilet paper and Kleenex. Now that’s a relationship! So domestic.

The only bad thing is that now I have all these unfinished projects lying around… Since things are working out differently than I thought, I might have time on Monday to get these done! And maybe start painting art for my walls?
