Beauty :: The Body Shop Chamomile Cleanser

The Body Shop’s Chamomile line has been hailed as an amazing, good for sensitive skin, and removes all traces of make up.

After being recommended this cleanser by Zubie and Annette, I was definitely tempted to purchase. I was only a little bit iffy since the Body Shop products have on occasion caused allergic reactions [I’m looking at you, almond hand cream]. I am happy to announce that this does not make me itchy or break out in red bumps at all!

The Product:

A solid cream base, it almost looks like coconut oil in it’s solid state, and has a slight waxy feel to it. It applies really nicely, and it really does take off every trace of make up. I have done the test with Benefit’s They’re Real and it had no difficulty with it. I typically don’t use this as a face wash, I’ll remove my make up, rinse with water and then wash my face with Vichy’s Normaderm cleanser.

While this can be used on it’s own, I would only do that if I wasn’t removing any make up. I like to make sure that all make up is off before applying creams and serums. If I am using this on its own, I use the muslin cloth to assist with that, and get a little bit of an extra scrub in.

It’s got a light scent of chamomile, which is quite nice and since I have an extremely sensitive nose, I am not allergic to it. It leaves my skin feeling moisturized, and soft. My lashes don’t feel brittle or damaged, if anything they feel amazingly soft as well. Again, because this removes mascara so well, I don’t rip out any lashes accidentally either. All pluses in my eyes!

The Packaging:

Being in a tin, I was at first a little unsure the best route to use this product, so as you can see, I poked my finger right in the middle of it. It wasn’t quite effective, so I’m extremely glad that In The Frow did a small blurb about it, and suggested using a cotton pad to apply it. Also, using the cotton pad makes it cleaner to use, as my hands aren’t touching it directly so not transferring any nasties to the clean tin. And I always grab a new cotton pad when going back for more product.

The Verdict:

I am extremely pleased with the addition of this product to my daily routine. I love that it’s gentle, but does the hard work. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to anything else to remove make up. This is definitely one to recommend for sure, and definitely lives up to its cult-standing. The Body Shop Chamomile cleanser isn’t going to break the bank either, when they have a sale you can get it up to 50% off! But at $16.00 it’s nothing to turn your nose up on either. It’s actually on sale now!
