The start of a little mini-series to update and show what’s been going on with the renovation of the house. I did that big dump post a couple months ago (now) with the progress over the past couple years but thought I’d do a little more of a break-down from room to room.
First up: The Kitchen!
Now, let’s preface this with the fact that it’s not quite finished yet. Small detail work needs to be completed, but Andrew has been working non-stop these past couple weeks to get them done! It’s been exciting seeing the fact that it’s almost done, even if he complains about it.
When we first moved in, the kitchen was the first room that got something ripped out of it. French doors from the main hallway, and a cabinet over the peninsula. Then we painted everything, replaced hardware, and left it for about a year. It was workable and fresh and functioning.
Just before we had Kaiden, Andrew decided we didn’t have enough counter space (we didn’t) or enough cabinetry for pantry storage (we didn’t). Andrew decided to rip apart the only pantry we had and install cabinets and a
We did have the cabinets and counter installed fairly quickly. It was the backsplash and electrical that took the most amount of time. And the cabinet space has definitely been used! It’s amazing how fast one fills up space – like where did it all go before I had that space?
The backsplash got worked on slowly in bits and pieces over the past year.
It’s harder with a new baby and working around sleep times! But it got finished eventually, and now we’re finally working on the trim and painting the wall where the new sliding door got put in and the old pantry was.
We’re so close to being done! Once it’s fully painted I’ll be able to get some stuff up on the wall (I have an art piece that’s been sitting waiting for many a moon because the wall isn’t done yet). And then, dare we say it? We’re finished?
I know that we want to redo this space one day, most likely once the rest of the house is finished, but for right now this will do! I might do a post on a kitchen wish list for a future renovation.
It’s very exciting to hopefully have most of the house finished before baby number 2 comes!
