Makeup By Mario; or Am I a Sucker for Trends

Have you heard of the Makeup by Mario brand?

I’m constantly buying new makeup and new skincare. Maybe I have a problem? I had to get rid of the Sephora app for a decent amount of time because I was browsing it for the sake of browsing. And then there’d be an offer for a trial that I wanted and I’d figure out that there was something I just needed to have in order to justify it. I’m pretty sure I’ve written about that before while writing during the pandemic.

As I’m constantly trying to figure out good things for my skin, I’m an easy sucker. My friend was more of the instigator behind this purchase though. She tried it out and said it was nice so I decided to give it a go. Did I mention that for the most part, peer pressure and marketing work really well on me?

I enjoy Sephora as a company, I think that they do a lot of good work.

Sephora is constantly expanding the Makeup by Mario line. It’s already added more products since I first purchased them in August 2022. I bought the blush stick and their Skin Perfector powder. This past year I found out that Sephora finds and helps up-and-coming brands create their companies. Tatcha is an example of this, as well as Makeup by Mario. He started working at Sephora as a teen and as they say, the rest is history. I do find that these brands are definitely in the higher price range but Mario is not as expensive as Tatcha.

So am I double-suckered? You bet. I also enjoy the clean look of the products and it is great that they are good! I’m looking forward to trying more in his line; I’ve got my eye on the SoftSculpt® Transforming Skin Enhancer. It looks similar to the one that I have, but it’s more of a foundation than a powder.

Well, colour me influenced again.

I know that I have a lot of makeup and skincare as I’m constantly adding to it, but the Makeup by Mario products are a go-to in my kit right now. I’m truly enjoying the glow that I get from Skin Perfector. It’s such a nice all-in-one product. This was what I brought with me to Mexico for the off-chance I wore makeup (aka 1 time). I figured I was going to be tan, it would be the lightest and the best thing to highlight that tan.

The best thing (because I don’t fully read descriptions) was finding out that the blush stick had an adorable blender brush attached at the bottom end. I’ve come to the realization that I love a good makeup stick. Blush, eye shadow, lip, highlight. Maybe even foundation. But if it’s in a stick form chances are I will like it. It’s very buildable, although I don’t find it’s the easiest to blend. I still like it, although it does require a bit more time to blend.

The Makeup by Mario line is something I’d definitely try other items from.

The foundation looks quite good – the liquid and the skin perfector. And as I’m a sucker for lipsticks, they also look quite nice as well.

But I’m also on a no-spending ban for new makeup… for now.
