Two of Earth Tallow is a local Ontario company that creates beautiful skincare from Tallow.
Something I’m so excited to be starting this year is finding ways to streamline and use products with fewer ingredients. I’m also trying to shop smaller and local because our economy needs it! Two of Earth Tallow checks all the boxes.
What is Tallow?
Tallow is created from rendered beef fat. It was what generations before used, before the influx of chemical processes like petroleum. The great thing about tallow is all the benefits that are built into the makeup of it.
- Vitamin A – Encourages the production of collagen, elastin and healthy skin cells + strengthens tissue to keep skin firm, smooth and youthful while helping to heal skin issues from acne to aging.
- Vitamin D – Contributes to skin cell development, repair, metabolism and immune function + protects and rejuvenates skin by protecting against free radicals that cause premature aging.
- Vitamin K – Plays an important role in skin tone, texture and overall health + soothes skin inflammation and irritations while helping to speed up the healing process.
- Vitamin E – Powerful antioxidant that repairs and reverses free radical damage + deeply hydrates and promotes healing in skin’s appearance. – via Highland of Skye website
Why am I using Tallow?
I am obsessed with the properties that tallow has. As someone who struggles with acne, the idea that this product will help my skin and not hinder it was a no-brainer. Plus, I struggle with dry skin and eczema, so it’s just so many birds with one stone.
I’m still struggling with my skin; hormonal acne is still my enemy, plus the fact that I’m still not SUPER consistent with my self-care. When I was washing my face regularly I did notice a difference.
I’m much better with using it all over my body and I swear I’ve noticed a difference there. My skin is SO soft.
The Starter Bundle
This is a great place to start on your tallow journey. In this bundle, you get the 4oz whipped or solid balm in your choice of scent, 2 travel-size balms, and the Homesteaders Tallow soap. I’ve tried both the whipped and solid, and I prefer the solid. There’s something about the solid balm that tricks my mind into thinking I use less, so save more than the whipped. But the whipped is luxurious and feels nice and easy to rub in. Either way, you really can’t go wrong. I use the travel ones way more than I expected, carrying them in my purse.
The Coffee Scrub
Using a coffee scrub is SUCH a nostalgia-inducing item. I remember using them 10 years ago (and loving them) but they were always coconut oil-based, and I have realized my skin does not love it. So when I won a Christmas giveaway for this one I was very excited! It smells amazing and has a fairly large grit so I use this all over my body. I use it on my face gently while in the shower, but in certain areas; mainly my chin and temples. It makes my skin feel incredibly soft without drying it out. I find I don’t need to moisturize after use. 10/10 would recommend and would repurchase this item!
Charcoal Soap + Deodorant Bundle
I’ve been using this charcoal soap as my main go-to for my face (other than when removing makeup) and I love it. Now that summer is coming though I think I’ll be switching it up as I find it a bit more drying. I think it’s a bit too much now that my skin is (for the most part) under control. I’ll try out the Homestead soap that I received with the above bundle in the coming months.
The deodorant I wanted to love. Do I think it works? Yes, absolutely. Unfortunately, I’m realizing that as much as I LOVE the smell of lemongrass as a scent, it 100% DOES NOT work for me. I think once it’s on my skin it smells “skunky” and that’s pretty much the opposite of what I’m going for. She offers 3 scents so I will try the unscented version next time. Lemongrass, why you gotta do me so dirty? She
Final Thoughts
Overall, I’ve already repurchased the cream 3 times; two whipped and one solid. This is a solid choice of moisturizer for me. I don’t see anything changing my mind about this one. I love how it makes my skin look and feel. It’s a winner! The coffee scrub is also a winner and a little goes a long way! For all these products, a little goes a long way.
I’ll try out a different scent for the deodorant because the hunt for a natural one that works is REAL. And I dislike the idea of going back to one of the big brands again.
I do like the soaps. She offers a few different kinds and I’m interested in trying out different ones. I feel if you have any type of sensitivity, these would be perfect for you.
What do you think of tallow-based products? Would you try them? I highly recommend them!
