Beauty :: Rimmel Lipstick and Nail Varnish

So apparently I’m on a current beauty post binge. But I’m really feeling the need to purchase more make up, although I really shouldn’t. The girl can’t help it though!

And I can’t help it that Walmart’s pharmacy has such a long wait period that I end up shopping while I’m going to pick up one thing. Clearly it’s their ploy to get you to purchase way more than you need [and it works, damn marketers!].

Although I didn’t spend too much time or money in the beauty department, I did manage to find an amazing shade of red lipstick for me. Because of my skin tone, I find it really hard to have a nice red lipstick that doesn’t have too much orange, or is too light for me. I find myself drawn over and over to the Rimmel selection, and this Walmart had a good variety of shades, and I was able to find one! It’s the Kate Moss collection, Lasting Finish Matte, colour 111 – Kiss of Life.

The only disappointing thing about this lipstick is that it’s not as long lasting as I would like, it doesn’t stain the lips and it does require a few coats in order to fully cover my lips. If you do it quickly it comes across as streaky, but that just might be me. Overall, it’s become my go-to summer lipstick, and would definitely repurchase this colour, and other colours in the line. Oh probably the best thing about it is that it doesn’t SMELL gross. I’ve bought another lipstick from Rimmel that smells like lipstick, this one smells fruity which is a welcome change.
And while I was also browsing, I decided to pick up a red nail polish, and Rimmel’s 60 second intrigued me. Plus it was only $3.00 Cdn, so I couldn’t realllly say no. It does actually dry in 60 seconds, and only one coat is needed to have a full, non-streaky finish. If you are in a rush, I definitely recommend this one. Without a top coat, it lasts a couple days without chipping, with top coat it can last a week [depending on how hard you are on your hands]. I did notice that it was fairly difficult to remove, and it did bleed a little while removing, so it made my toes look pink all over. Another nice thing about this polish was the brush, it had a great feel and created great coverage. And it was tapered so it fit the nail bed nicely as well. Kudos to Rimmel for that!
Overall, for both products I definitely will repurchase and buy in other colours. Have you tried any of these products?
