Review :: L’Oreal Collection Privee by Doutzen

L’Oreal’s newest beauty collection hitting the shelves features nudes that are named after a L’Oreal celebrity model. Thinking of trying Doutzen’s? Here’s what I thought about it.

When I opened up Natalie’s Essentials and saw that this was in there – I was extremely excited. I had just read a couple reviews on these and instantly wanted to try them, and there it was in my grubby little paws.

I was drawn to Doutzen’s colour originally, and although it is a bit too light for me, I still rock it anyways. I think that J.Lo’s nude would suite me a little better, so I’m still going to hop out and grab that one.

Now, down to the nitty gritty.

The Packaging:

I feel like this is extremely luxe. I love the matte feel to the tube, and the gold adds that little extra. I’m extremely pleased with the overall feel of package too, it makes me enjoy using it. And it’s just lovely to look at.

The Lipstick:

It’s a very smooth lipstick to apply, and the coverage is decent. Due to the nude colouring I find that it doesn’t “stain” so I am reapplying it fairly often throughout the day depending on how much I eat or drink. But it does last through a cup of tea. I don’t mind the smell of it, it’s not quite as harsh of a “lipstick smell” but it does smell like lipstick. Rather moisturising, and not drying, I don’t find that I need to apply chap-stick immediately after applying this bad boy. This would be the perfect nude for someone who probably isn’t quite as olive toned as I am, since my natural lip colour shows through. Oh, and an added bonus is that I haven’t noticed any bleed, which might not be a big deal with nude ones? No need for liner! I did do a swatch, but it was so sheer that you literally couldn’t see it on my skin tone… Not super helpful.

The Price:

As this is a drug store brand, the cost is very reasonable. It’s definitely comparable to the higher end brands (which are usually priced at $35+).
I’m actually really glad that the essentials included a lip exfoliator, because with nudes it’s needed! I find that if my lips are flaky at all, this does stick and emphasis it all. Not sexy at all.

This is definitely one that I’ll be picking up again – but perhaps in my correct colour. And I think that I’d definitely looking into the other items in the collection – nail polish! What do you think of the collection?
