After being in the house for 2 years, I think it’s about time for a house update.
I seem to only write these once a year. I was reading back on the post where we first bought the house and how excited I was about posting DIY’s and laugh because I still haven’t posted any (and the one that I have written hasn’t actually been completed yet- I’ve also changed it multiple times).
My last update back in August was 2016 was pretty brief. We had the bathroom door put on! It’s the little things.
The house is still not complete. But it’s almost there. So close, yet so far!
We decided to gut the basement when I was pregnant with the grand hopes of having it done by the time the baby came. Well, Kaiden is now 9 months old and my basement is nowhere near being finished. Just before Kaiden arrived, Andrew decided that we didn’t have enough kitchen storage (we didn’t, but that’s beside the point) and that we needed to do a little reno on the kitchen. It was not finished by the time Kaiden arrived. It is finished (mostly) now, so I’ll be posting about that soon! Then, Andrew got sidetracked by a large project in the backyard, and here we are – almost 2 years later and I still have a hole in the basement and a complete wreck of a backyard.
But let’s focus on the rooms in the house that are complete.
Inside, I’ve just been going over and completing the little things. Putting up pictures, putting up the curtains, mainly doing the finishing touches in each room. I’ve done the most work in the second bedroom, but little things have happened in every room.
I have now put up curtains in all the bedrooms! Eventually, I will put up curtains in the kitchen, but until the trim around the door is finished, there’s no point?
We moved around the furniture in the living/dining room, so now I have this glorious wall just screaming for a gallery wall.
I finished the second bedroom and moved the furniture around and am in love with it.
I just have two things to hand in the nursery and it will be complete.
The bathroom will get another cabinet and then it’ll be done too (although, the cabinet is a newly planned addition and not part of the original design).
I’m planning on doing a bunch of individual room Before & After posts to highlight what’s been done so far. I took some pretty terrible Before photos, so… I apologize in advance.
