Health :: Meditation and Yoga

Spirituality is something that I’m really big on this year, and meditation is something that I want to incorporate into my daily life.

Yoga is always something that I know I should be doing, but now I’m making the time for it. I need to stop waiting for Andrew to get home and do some with me. If I do that, it’ll never happen. So, here I am, trying to create new routines for myself.

I am totally not a morning person, so me trying to get up early and do yoga/meditation is just not going to happen. I was at it for a bit, but then the weather turned cooler and bed was just so much more enticing. I tried, and I just can’t keep it up consistently enough to make it work. So I need to work it into the routine after work (although sometimes I’ll do it at work, during my break, if I’m feeling extremely stiff).

Recently, Andrew’s told me that he wants to do yoga but he comes home so late that I’m already well immersed in other things and just run out of time. So I’m going to start doing it right when I get home from work. I’ll change out of work clothes into yoga, and hit the mat. Yoga for the body and mind, and then meditation for the spirit.  Right now, I’m really interested in working on opening my chakras and getting more in tune with my intuition.

Got stress? Meditate. Don’t like being alone with yourself? You need some meditation. Pretty much, the ultimate self love thing to do is meditation. Combining it with the more physical yoga, but if you’re doing yoga in the traditional sense, it’s all about aligning your body, breath, and mind together to reach enlightenment (typically Hatha yoga).

If you’re like me and just starting out with the meditation scene, here’s a great starter for you.  I also use guided meditations from Drawing Within (if you sign up for her newsletter, they’re free!) but there are plenty around the interwebs. Find one that speaks and resonates with you. Even if you just sit in a room, get comfy and light some candles to quiet your mind, it’s at start.

Do you meditate? Is this something that you’d like to get into? Connect with me, and let’s journey together!
