Back on Gillian again. This week though we didn’t have Debbie as a coach, as she was nursing her husband after he had a surgery, we had Gemma. I’ve never really seen Gemma in action, as it were, and it was actually really good. She’s certified in England as a coach, but doesn’t ever tell anyone that. Hah, she’s really funny and I like her a lot. It was great to get a different perspective on my riding, and a different way of saying what I’m doing wrong.
It was really good, and then it went really bad, then really good, then really bad. Story of my life. She was ridden in the lesson before me, and so she was already warmed up, so the lesson started off pretty good. She was framing and working well under me. Then we got to a point where we were just talking walking around, so she took over. And then we couldn’t turn, and Gemma helped talk me through it and relaxed and then she was really good again. Then we had issues, when she started to think she was done. We worked through them and ended on a good note.
The nice thing about last night was even though it’s so much harder to keep her attention at the walk, it’s great to be able to really notice how my body affects how she goes. I was having a really hard time last night with my body, it seemed like my shoulders were doing everything opposite of what I wanted them to do. Very frustrating when you see your body doing what you know is wrong, and not being able to communicate with it.. Like WTF?
