2018 Year Ahead Spread | Spiritual

I know this spread is a little late to be getting up, but it’s one of my favourite’s to start the new year with.

The Year Ahead Spread is one that I like to do on New Year’s Eve just to get a little bit of insight into how my year will unfold. Of course, like everything with tarot – it’s not set in stone!

As it’s now the end of March, I could probably redo this spread to see what’s changed and what I need to pay attention too in my life.

But this is about what I pulled at the beginning of the year. So this spread is 13 cards; 12 in a circle and 1 in the middle. It represents a card for each month, and then the overall vibe for the year.

Let’s get into it!

The cards that I pulled were:

spread

January

Son of Cups I always find the court cards a little tough to read when it comes to readings like this. This one is about artistic and introspective-ness, and I’m not sure how it applied to January. Maybe it was about someone specific, but I’m not 100% sure!

February

2 of Wands  This card speaks of making your mind up about a decision. Now that February has actually passed, I can honestly say that YUP that happened. I made a decision and put all my effort into following it through. I can’t talk about it on here yet but it’s pretty exciting and will be on here in the next couple months!

March

3 of Wands This card is about following through on the decisions you made and preparing for the future. Can I say – hells ya again? We’re still in March, but after the February card, I can say yes, I have the support to make sure that everything I decided in February happens!

April

4 of Swords Time to get some meditation on! Things are about to ramp up, and I need to quiet the mind and get my shit together to be able to keep on top of it all.

spread

May

The Magician Action, Action, Action! Self-empowerment and big things.

June

The Moon Vivid dreams and fears. This one reflects the shadow self. After a month of crazy action, it’s probably telling me to be a little more introverted and dream big but don’t get lost in self-doubt.

July

6 of Wands All my hard work is going to be paying off! This is going to feel awesome because I’ve overcome obstacles but I’ve persevered.

spread

August

The Sun I think this is appropriate for August since I’ll be able to be out in the sun (hopefully) all month long! All about the good mojo this month.

September

Mother of Wands All about motherhood here. I feel like this is where I come into my own more as a mother, or Kaiden starts testing my will and judgement!

spread

October

6 of Cups A card about memories and childhood and enjoying the little things. I know that my whole reading is kind of centred (subconsciously) around being a mother and having Kaiden in my life, so this one is probably more in my face about that. We also have a wedding this month of Andrew’s good childhood friends so this could play into it as well!

November

8 of Wands Sudden movement or change is happening right now and it’s somewhat unexpected. Who knows what this is going to be about!? I honestly haven’t even though this far ahead.

December

Daughter of Swords Honest and insightful. Again a court card, but this one I can relate to a little more. I think it’s interesting that I pull this one in my birth month!

spread

Overall

5 of Wands Interestingly, this is the card of scattered or lack of focus. Considering a lot of my year is about goals and getting shit done, it’s curious that this is my overall vibe. But it makes sense because I do tend to get pulled in multiple directions and I’m already feeling like I have so much to do and don’t know what to prioritize first.

In reflection…

I found it interesting that I pulled a lot of Wand cards. Wand typically revolves around creativity and dreams and goals and brings forward a lot of internal meanings. Cups are about relationships in your life, and Swords brings about change and action to a reading.

Just looking at the cards laid out, they initially made me feel a little overwhelmed. There seems to be a lot of reverse cards, and I don’t read reversed cards differently but I kept them the way I drew them. I don’t think I’ve ever done a reading with so many Wand cards, so that threw me a little bit as well.

I think that my overall card is pretty bang-on, and February/March have been as well. I’m crazy-excited for the amount of change that this year will bring, and overall it seems like it’s going to pretty bad-ass.

Dare I say, 2018 will be my year?!

What do you think of this spread?
