A couple of weeks ago, I took Monday off from work and headed up to Caledon to go to the Millcroft Inn & Spa.
I went with my mom, her friend and her daughter. My mom and her friend are avid spa goers, and have been to quite a few over the years. None of us had ever been to this spa, and so we decided to do a Mother-Daughter outing.
When you book a service at this spa, you are able to have access to the pools and hot tubs 2 hours before and after your appointment. We arrived around 11.15am to be able to enjoy the hot tubs before our appointments. The Moms were at 2.30, daughters at 3.30.
It was a decent enough day that we were able to go into the hot tubs outside, and honestly, I could have stayed in them forever. It was cold out, but it wasn’t so cold that you didn’t want to go outside. I did feel that the tubs could have been hotter, because they were outside, but then I like my water to be hotter than most people. The pools outside were quite new, and very pretty. We went to check out the indoor pools while the moms were at their massages, and it was small, and a little bit old. They were still good, the hot tub was actually hotter than outside, and the pool was decent, but it wasn’t as updated as the outdoor ones were. Also, as a note – the change room is quite small too! It’s nice, but there’s really only one bench, so when you get in it’s a little crowded if there’s more than a couple ladies.
The massage was good though. I went for an aromatherapy massage and it was extremely relaxing. Massages are never long enough though! The RMT was friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and the perfect amount of pressure. I chose a peppermint mix for my oils and loved the smell and feel of it afterwards.
Afterwards, we trundled down to the actual Inn for afternoon tea. It was delicious, but I do feel that I’ve had better in the city for the same cost. I did love the decor of the restaurant though, so that’s something. I went with a Prickly Pear rooibos, which I enjoyed, but just further confirmed that I really don’t like rooibos teas. But that didn’t stop me from drinking it! I really love the scones and jam, so those were good. The desserts are always good, although they had rum balls as one, and 3 out of 4 of us didn’t eat them.
Overall, it was a lovely day out with my mom. I don’t think that I’d be returning to this one, mainly because they were a little pricier for what you got (massage and tea were on the higher end side of pricing), and it’s just small. It wasn’t overly busy, so that was a plus but I could see that on a different day/season it could be uncomfortably busy. It’s such a great area though, so if you’re going out for dinner or a fancy night sleep over it would be lovely.
