Books :: Audiobooks

In a recent book post, I mentioned that I wasn’t reading quite as much as I’d like too, and I think that the solution to my problem are audiobooks.

I borrowed a couple from the library (yay!) and have been listening to them while I do the dishes instead of listening to music. It’s a little weird at first, but I’m actually starting to enjoy it. I’ve been listening to the Percy Jackson series currently, because YA and Greek Mythology right? Plus the movies are pretty good too.

I find that part of me really enjoys it if the narrator is good. I was listening to a series that I read all the time, and own in hardcover, and while I love the books, the audiobooks didn’t really do it for me mainly due to the narrator. Although, it was interesting because listening made me hear every word, and I couldn’t skim over like I sometimes do. And it helped with pronunciation of a few of the words and names as well.

So far on my audiobooks list, I’ve got:

  • Percy Jackson Series – Rick Riodan
  • Legends Trilogy – Marie Lu
  • Black Jewels Series – Anne Bishop

That’s about… 20 or so books to get done, which is no slim task considering most of the books take at least 7 hours to listen to. I’m quite enjoying it, but I find that I can’t multitask and listen to them if I’m on the computer, I do tend to just tune them out. So, listening while I’m puttering around the kitchen it is!

Any books that you’d suggest for my new found listening addiction?
