A good use for my tray! |
Ok, I caved. I’m doing ridiculously bad with not spending money. Everytime I go into a store, I come out with something that wasn’t on my list. Well, it’s on a list, just not the list that I can spend money on. It is all things that I do need, but definitely could wait. I’m just way to impatient nowadays!
Anyways, on with the goods!
I decided that I needed a new mascara. One that wasn’t super crazy to get off like Benefit’s They’re Real mascara [really good and lengthens a lot but… geez it’s hardest stuff to get off]. I have also come to the sad conclusion that even though I love the name brands, I can no longer afford the name brands. So, I’m back to Walmart/Shoppers for my makeup needs. Which is fine, I like affordable.
Maybelline: Great Lash Original
I went with a classic, just because I have used this one before, it’s easy to remove, and it’s great for an every day look. Nothing to “OMG LOOK AT THOSE GIRL’S LASHES” about it. I always choose blackest black because I have dark eyelashes to begin with. The brush is great, and it doesn’t clump. Always a bonus. And actuall washes off well with just face wash and water. I use a little remover to clean up the black circles left over…
Maybelline: Illegal Length
I wanted to try something for when I go out, that gave length and pizzazz to my eyes. A little something bolder for a night out. I wasn’t sure what to expect… It was a toss up between this one and the stiletto one, but this one was cheaper. One thing that I don’t like about it is the packaging. The tube itself feels like very cheap plastic, and like it’ll break at any moment [aka if Kumo knocks it off the shelf]. The mascara itself is decent. It does definitely lengthen more than the Great Lash, but compared to Benefit, it doesn’t have the same oomph. Probably because it doesn’t go on quite as thick.
Rimmel: Match Perfection powder blush in Light/Medium
I’ve always like Rimmel products, but kind of fell out of buying them because I went a little more upscale. [Sephora, I’m looking at you..] But last night Shopper’s was having a bit of a makeup sale, and I wanted a powder blush so I bought one. First off, it is damn complicated to buy one of these suckers. Powder blush, not so easy to find. It’s like companies don’t want to sell it anymore so they make 4 colours. And that’s it. So after narrowing down the companies that actually had powder blush on the rack, I then narrowed to colour and price. Rimmel won because it was the cheapest, and I felt that becaues it was a blend it would be the nicest. And it is. Although, there isn’t that much pink colour… So I’m not so sold on it. But it will do for the summer. I’ll have to look at it in natural lighting.
Maybelline: Line Stiletto
The last make up item I bought was another black pen liner. I’m in love with this style of liner, and find it a lot easier? I don’t know why, because the concept is still the same. I was currently using the Stila liner pen, and while it’s good, I found that the tip wasn’t as firm as I would have liked. It left a lot of play in the tip which meant that I could make a mistake. And have my eye look.. awkward. I love doing my eye makeup, and most of the time I’m pretty good, but that doesn’t mean that I have very bad days. Anyways, it’s not bad. Considering the price I paid, it’s worth it. Worth the full price? Not sold on it. The colour isn’t that great. It’s alright, but it’s not a deep colour, it comes off a lot lighter. And I tried to go over it with a pencil and it just started taking off the liner. Oops. So by mid-day, it’s already flaking off. The bonus with that? Easy to remove at the end of the night!
Also, I’m finally close to being done the bottle of makeup remover from Benefit. I love Benefit products, but this one? Complete shit. It barely every took my make up off, and was terrible at removing mascara. I cannot wait until this is completely gone and I can try making my own. That should be interesting!
Has anyone tried any of these products? What did you think of them?
