Here’s another Young Adult series that has me totally enthralled. The Throne of Glass series is currently four books long, and there’s going to be at least one more. This series has everything – the threat of magic, the Fae, fighting, a kick-ass heroine, and romance. Fast-paced and completely engrossing, I burned through the series and am impatiently waiting for the next one to be released!

The series begins with Throne Of Glass, where we’re introduced to Celaena who is currently in prison for being an assassin.

In a land without magic, where the king rules with an iron hand, an assassin is summoned to the castle. She comes not to kill the king, but to win her freedom. If she defeats twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, she is released from prison to serve as the king’s champion. Her name is Celaena Sardothien.

The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her. But something evil dwells in the castle of glass–and it’s there to kill. When her competitors start dying one by one, Celaena’s fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival, and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world.

Crown of Midnight.

Celaena Sardothien is the king’s Champion-yet she is far from loyal to the crown, for the man she serves is bent on evil. But working against her master in secret is no easy task. As Celaena tries to untangle the mysteries buried within the glass castle, she can trust no one, not even her supposed allies Crown Prince Dorian, Captain of the Guard Chaol, and foreign princess Nehemia.

Then, an unspeakable tragedy shatters Celaena’s world. She must decide once and for all where her loyalties lie . . . and whom she will fight for.

This series. So much love. I don’t want to give away too much in spoilers because I want you to go read it and experience it for yourself!! I love that Celaena is such an amazing heroine. She has such a heartbreaking back story and while there are a lot of moments where she has to question her loyalties and she finds out information that had been locked in her memories, she perseveres. Her relationships are realistic and aren’t so fantastical that you shake your head in disbelief. They hit you right in the feels.

Sarah J Maas is a fantastic writer, and I’m super excited to see what else she writes! Definitely one to watch and instantly buy her books, for sure.

This series also has in-between the series novellas where you can read more about certain characters but still continues with the story time line.

Have you added this to your To-Be-Read list for 2016?signature1

You’ll like this if you enjoyed The Lunar Chronicles, The Hunger Games, and the Game of Thrones series (although for a younger readership).
