Life :: Just an Update…

For being a lifestyle blogger, the life posts aren’t coming that easy to me at the moment. I feel like I have so much to write about, but just can’t find the words.

A lot of things have happened, happy and sad, in this first month of 2016.

For the sad – my last remaining grandmother passed away last week. Spookily, she passed away exactly one year after my grandmother from my Dad’s side passed. To the day. Just a scant 2 hours apart too… Weird how that happens, isn’t it? I’m alright, and my family is alright. Sad, because that connection is gone, but happy that her pain is over, and she is finally at peace. The last 2 years hadn’t been easy on her. Between having to move to a home, and then getting diagnosed with lung cancer, it was tough. Probably tougher for my mom, as she was there throughout everything. All the doctors appointments, visiting all the time, she watched the gradual decline. It’s sad how age and illness takes it’s toll on oneself. My family was there when she passed, so we were able to say our goodbyes to her. We had a big family dinner last night, and we’ll do something again in the spring. No big funeral, but she wasn’t into fussing over herself. She was an amazing woman, kind, and as my uncle put it, the original feminist. She’s where I get my strong sense of self from (passed down from her to my mom, and then to me). Good memories and peaceful thoughts, and I know that she’s with her sister and my opa.

For the happy – a complete 180 pretty much! My best friend in BC got engaged over the holidays!!!! And she asked me to be her maid of honour, and I have to say that I’m stoked. I keep trolling Pinterest for ideas and inspirations for her. Since I am 5 provinces away from her, I’ll have to do my best through email, Skype, and texting. Luckily, she doesn’t think it’s going to be a big, complicated wedding (she says this now…). I couldn’t be more excited for her, and I can’t wait to see how this progresses!!!! I think I’ll post some of the stuff on here, especially since I’m going to be a long-distance MOH. That should make things interesting.

Life is constantly changing and updating itself. The Mercury Retrograde is finally over, so here’s to seeing some more exciting things in the coming months!!!
