Happy New Year!!
I can’t even wrap my brain around the fact that it’s 2013. Seems like it’s all happened so fast. Even on New Year’s Eve, it seemed like the hours before the countdown went by incredibly quick. One moment we’re just chatting and watching ET Canada’s show, and then we have 18 minutes left and we’re rushing around to get fireworks and champagne ready. The boys put on a great fireworks display, even though they were a little bit reckless, they did practice some safety. The girls were safely up by the cottage on the balcony, cheering for the boys.
After my birthday, I ran around doing errands, dropped Kumo off at my parents and then went to Andrew’s to head up to the cottage. Andrew then told me that I was driving up [as he was drinking a drink], and so off we went. Picked up Dennis, picked up the waffle maker, picked up laptop chargers. We were a little scatterbrained this time.
As we finally hit the road, the nice thing to look forward to was the cottage would already be nice and toasty. I lived off hot chocolates topped high with whipped cream, whilst the boys drank themselves silly. I only drank on New Year’s Eve, and even then, I wasn’t drinking a lot. I did, however, eat quite a bit of shrimp. Mm delicious.
Hanging out with the guys is always an experience, and one that I’m glad I got to share with a couple of girls that came up every other day. Yay for not being totally surrounded by testosterone. It was a bit of a random collection of girls though. A cousin visiting from Germany, an old friend of one of the guys, and another girlfriend. The girl from Germany was super cute, and we both chilled during the day reading our books. Then while the boys were outside tinkering with their sleds, we chatted girl stuffs. While my phone died. Always awesome. So unimpressed with that. Ah well, it’s a good break from it, even if I feel completely out of touch.
But even though it was cold, I did venture out in the snow and went with Andrew for a bit of sledding. Always fun. I enjoy it, I just don’t think I enjoy it enough to get my own… But maybe my own helmet…? Haha one day. First things first, I need better snowpants.
I hope everyone had an amazing time off, and now it’s back to the daily grind of work and school. Sigh. Reality.
