Quarantine Makeup Haul | Beauty

Why not update the makeup stash during a lock down and one can’t go outside?

So awhile back during the start of quarantine, I went a little crazy with the online shopping.

Let’s be real, I’m still buying stuff but not as much or as frequent now. Now it’s mostly for things that I need around the kitchen for baking stuff (because I’m obsessed) but that’s another post.

Right now let’s talk about makeup!

So in my post here, I talked about the skincare I purchased from IT Cosmetics, Deciem, and Sephora. But I also purchased some makeup products at the same time.

Let’s talk about the products I bought for the face.

The Bye Bye Pores Poreless Finish kit, which included the blush, bronzer, the pressed illumination powder, and a mini brush. I’ve never used bronzer before buying this so it’s a bit of a learning curve for me! Honestly? I love it. I’m really enjoying playing around with it and it does add a little extra to my makeup. The blush is really nice and smooth too. Overall this was definitely a good addition to my makeup routine.

The Your Skin But Better CC Cream in light-medium. I bought this because everyone raves about it, and why not try it out? I needed a new CC/BB cream and since it was on sale, I gave it a go. It’s not bad. I do like it but maybe because I did the matte version, I don’t quite get the hype. Still undecided on whether I’d buy it again, to be honest.

I used to be all about the primers and then decided I didn’t need the extra step (or cost) but since I had a fun little promo code with DECIEM I decided to splurge and try out their Silicone Primer. It’s definitely smooth and you can’t beat the pricing for The Ordinary products. I’d like to try their other primer as well. Once this one’s done!

Another heavily influenced product/brand I purchased was the Tatcha Silk Canvas Protective Primer. I haven’t actually used this much because I’m not 100% sure how to apply it properly. The travel size I purchased didn’t come with any applicator. I don’t want to use my fingers on it so… yah. Until I figure out what I should use to apply it I probably won’t use it. Plus with the Ordinary primer, I don’t really need it at the moment.

I don’t often use eye shadow but I love palettes.

I was given the ABH Norvina palette volume 3 as a Christmas present from a friend and I love the colours! But it’s a bit intimidating. I’ve used it a handful of times and really enjoy the pigmentation of the colours. I’m just never going anywhere to use it? Although I have a wedding coming up so I might be able to experiment for that.

Speaking of eye palettes – I’m absolutely loving the Urban Decay Honey palette. It’s pretty much my new go-to neutral and it’s so sparkly and gorgeous. I find that it gives such a nice bronzey glow which is great for summer and works well with a full face (including bronzer). It also came with the Honey primer (which is hella sparkly) which you can pretty much use on its own for some colour. I don’t have the full size palette (as the set I got only came with six of the shades) but I feel like this one I would buy the full size for sure!

And since we’re talking about eyes…

The Superhero eyeliner and mascara. I’m a huge sucker to try new mascaras and eyeliners, although I really only use the pen style eyeliners now. And so far I like them both. The mascara comes off nicely with their Bye Bye Makeup remover and I don’t have to scrub at my eyes too much (unlike the Benefit formulation). The eyeliner doesn’t seem to smudge terribly on my oily eyelids but I’ve yet to find one that doesn’t move at all, so that doesn’t surprise me.

I’ve been using the MILK Makeup Kush Fibre brow gel and pencil for some time now and I really like them. They match my colouring perfectly and it definitely helps define my brows. Sometimes if I’m being lazy I’ll just do my brows and throw on some mascara and lipstick and voila, polished!

And the final touch for any look

Something new that I want to incorporate into my routine is regularly wearing lipstick. So I purchased the IT Cosmetics Blurred Lines Lipstick in Ruby Slippers. I really like this formula!! If anything this is probably my favourite thing I bought from IT. It has a smooth application and has a chocolate smell which is yum yum yummy. Plus, it’s a bit sheer and sparkly, but still leaves a decent colour deposit.

I was heavily influenced bought a lip liner because why not? I got the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat lip liner in Pillow Talk because it looked the most neutral and “nude” for my skin tone. I’m enjoying using it, even if it is another step. And the colouring means I pretty much use it with any lipstick.

So overall?

I’m not 100% sold on my IT cosmetics stuff. It was a great deal and I don’t regret the purchase, but I’m not sure I’ll be running out the the next sale and hitting order without a thought.

I think I’d be more inclined to work through the stuff I bought from DECIEM first (I purchased this cool ass foundation like product from them) and hopefully my skin will be better so that I won’t need to use a crazy amount of makeup.

And hopefully, I’ll try not to be super influenced to go make purchases from Instagram Influencers in the future.
