Life :: Canon EOS Rebel SL1

Rebel SL1

This is probably the most exciting thing that came to the office last week. I even had a little bit of an embarassing moment when it arrived, I was so excited that I hugged the package, and maybe did a little bit of a jig. Only to realize that my boss was back from lunch and was currently staring at me with a look of incredulity. So, I of course had to explain what it was and why I was hugging it so damn hard.

Awkward.

Anyways, on to the actual purchase. I posted a tweet about it, and I immediately took it out for a spin. *cough Spadina House* I love it so much. But here’s what you all want to see, pictures!

I made the *splurge* and got the Canon EOS SL1 digital camera. It’s the smallest body of the EOS family, and for me that was perfect. I had borrowed a friend’s Canon T3i while we were away in Boston, and I found that after a day of lugging it around my neck, that’s exactly what it became – lugging. My neck hurt, and it was just uncomfortable. And as I’d like to take my camera mobile, I figured that size and weight should be a major player in my decision. Nicely, it’s compatible with all of the lenses that Canon carries, so I can eventually mix and match [when I have the money to buy a different one].

So this one comes with the 18-55mm lens, your standard one. I’m definitely doing more research about lenses, but for now I’m trying to get more practice with using the beast. I can’t wait til the summer to start using it for photos outside. For now, I’m just loving the fact that having a better camera makes editing photos so much easier.

Excuse me while I go figure out this camera. I attended the Spark Sessions photography workshop last weekend. You can read about my foray into a blogger’s workshop, and you can sign up for Spark Sessions next two workshops as well.
