Life :: Big News Update

Ok, so it’s not reallly big news… kind of.

I have decided.. to not move out this October. I haven’t really been sold on any of the places that I’ve seen, and I’ve been having to harass this one place that hasn’t been replying, so I think I’ll just give it a pass. Plus, then I can save more money, and get more for a down payment.

A quick recap of the apartments that I saw:

Building Visit #1: 2333 Truscott Drv. Rent: $1010/mo

~> This building is the furthest away for me to travel to and from work. Not as good an area, a little more sketch. The company owns 4 buildings and they’re all neighbours, and share the outdoor pool. The first building (where the rental office is) is cheaper, but nothing is available in that one. The unit mom and i saw is available Oct. 15, 1 bdrm, split level. It was interesting, but felt really cramped while in there. You walk through the front door to a small foyer, and then down 5 steps into your main living area, with the kitchen to the side. Not a lot of space for sofas/tables/etc. Balcony. Then you go downstairs to a very cramped hallway that has 3 closets, the bathroom and the bedroom. A little on the small side, but I didn’t like how it’s not super open concept. Mom didn’t really like it either, especially for the price.

Building Visit #2: 1970 Fowler Dr. Rent: $875/mo
~> This building was OLD. I mean they’re all old, but this one seemed more tired than the rest. The carpets in the hallways were messy, and I was wearing heels and I felt really BIG in them. The unit itself was decently sized. The doors stuck a bit, and there was a nice view. Close to the QEW. More of the open concept, the kitchen had 2 entrances, one in the front to the living room, and one where the dining room would be. Balcony as well, but the door wouldn’t open to go out onto it. Fairly big though, so that’s nice. The bedroom was decently sized with two closets, so I wouldnt be losing space. Much like what I have now. Bathroom was basic. For the price it was better, but i’m not signing anything yet. The building wasn’t as nice..

Building Drive-By #3: 2111 Roche Court. Rent: $795/mo no balcony
~> So this building is right behind the above mentioned one. And-it-is-scary. Run down, mom did a drive by and was like Jasmine you’re not living here. Ppl didn’t have curtains, they used sheets or blankets, it was ugly. And the vibe was wrong.

Building Visit #4: 2200 Roche Court
~> Across the court, is this actually nice building. I didn’t get to go see anything, as we didn’t have an appt but we managed to just talk to the super and she gave us a number and told us that they only have bachelors and 2bdrms. Bachelors are $700/mo and 2 bdrm are $925/mo. Which is reasonable. A little over my budget, but still cheaper than the first building. FOR more space. And it’s closer too, and closer to the mall so I could walk to get groceries. But, for 50 bucks more I can get another room,and more space than the 2nd building too. And this one has a pool.

I dunno. I’m just not really feeling them. The apartments have slim pickings in choice as well, so I think I’m just gonna cut my losses and start redecorating my room, saving for a down payment, and just chill while I’m at home. Save more money. Spend less. Plan out how I want to decorate my apartment. Spend more time FINDING a quality apartment. Possibly get a car…. Who knows anymore!?

This might be the best move for me right now.
xoxo
