Mmm lasagna. I don’t think there is anything easier to throw together then this. It helps if you have a bigger kitchen than what I currently have, but hey, we make do. The good thing about a tiny kitchen is that it makes me clean dishes as I go. Which is nice because then I don’t have a crazy amount of dishes to do after I finally finish cooking, and honestly, who wants to do dishes after cooking?
Anyways, my lasagna is nothing fancy. I keep adapting to whatever ingredient I have around, and I keep changing how I cook it. Depends on how much I liked the previous time I made it.
This time, I didn’t really change much. I added onions to it, because I a) forgot the last time, and b) who doesn’t love onions? I love how something so basic can be such a comfort food.
Recipe:
9 noodles
1 pkg of ground beef
1 can pasta sauce
1 bar of mozzarella
1/4 onion, diced
1 clove garlic, minced
I get the water and pasta going first, I use 9 noodles because my pan isn’t huge, and can only fit that. 3 layered lasagna! I cook the pasta to al dente, because it’s going into the oven so I don’t want it to be over cooked.
I start browning the meat, and I used half a package of ground beef, but you can use whatever meat, and however meaty you want it to be. That’s the great thing about lasagna, you can make it how you choose. Once my meat’s cooked, I strain out the excess oil. In the same pan, I slightly saute the onions and garlic, adding the meat again halfway through.
I strain the pasta, and let it cool a bit. While it’s cooling I shred my cheese. I don’t like a lot of cheese, and I don’t like ricotta in my lasagna. Mozzarella only! I layer 3 noodles across my pan, add a little bit of cheese, and my 1/2 of the beef. Next layer of noodles, some sauce, some cheese, and the rest of the meat. Then the last of the noodles, as much sauce as you want, and then the rest of the cheese. Cover in foil, and put in the oven @ 350 C for about an hour. Easy peasy! Serve with salad and wine. Delish!
