Dressage :: Lesson 1.25.12

Via Tumblr.

Ahh, my first horse post on this blog. I ride every Wednesday’s at 8pm, and I’ve been riding dressage at Equestrian Dreams for almost a year and a half (wow, does time ever fly!).

Currently I’m riding Gillian. Now, if you’ve read from my other blog, you’ll know that Gillian and I… haven’t always gotten along. Re: She put me in the corner for many a lesson. Thankfully, (I like to think) as a testament to my improved riding skills, I’ve graduated. No more corners for Jasmine! I can get her looking amazing.

Last night, it was intense. Lots of leg and arm. I was driving her into the bridle to start bringing her together more, and going from trot to halt. Not as easy as it sounds. It took me a while to get her to a complete stop, paying close attention to how my body was (Am I leaning to far forward? Are my legs too far forward? Am I driving enough? Are my arms too tense? The questions and analyzing are endless.) At some points she just ignored me, so my shoulders are sore and tired today.

I’m so excited to start having good lessons on this mare. In a month, we’re doing a Pas de Deux for the Christmas party, and I’m nervous yet excited for it. Andrew and my mom will be there (as well as everyone at the barn). Hopefully she won’t make me look like a fool.

xoxo
