Dane Cook is one of my favourite comedians.
Dane Cook brings back so many memories. I first started listening/watching him when I was in college and fell in love. I still have his specials on CD (what are those… hah) and I used to have a giant poster of him from Employee of the Month. (I don’t know if I got rid of it but I kind of hope that I didn’t). I used to have that taped to the ceiling of my dorm room above my bed. What can I say – I was a rebel.
So when I happened to see that he was going to be performing at Niagara Fallsview Casino, I immediately hopped online to grab some tickets. This was the first time that I actually refreshed the page multiple times to get tickets. It took me a couple minutes but I did it! I got 2 tickets for his Thursday show.
I went with Andrew and we made it a Thursday night date night! We headed to Niagara and drove around to see the Falls and figure out where we wanted to eat dinner. We decided on the Outback Steakhouse for dinner and felt like old people since it was so early.
The Outback was alright – I don’t know if it was worth the price of the food. But it was a lot of fun just hanging out with Andrew and actually talking over dinner. Sometimes I don’t think we do that enough during the week.
After dinner, we went to Fallsview and walked around the Galleria. We grabbed a tea and ice cream and just talked.
And then it was time! Dane Cook Time!
His opening act, Vinny Fasline, was really good. Got the crowd going, his mom opened and introduced him (which was weird but funny at the same time?!) and was really funny. I’d see him again if he is ever back in Canada.
But Dane Cook was the main event, and boy did he deliver!! Andrew and I didn’t stop laughing the whole night, and I made the mistake of wearing eyeliner – it was definitely gone by the end of the night!
He talked about relationships, stalkers, sex, and everything in between. Everything was new, and it was pretty awesome to see him interacting with the crowd. The Fallsview theatre is definitely more intimate than a large space like Madison Square Garden, which I always prefer. He looks great and is still a funny funny man. He was on stage for about an hour and a half (the show started at 8.30 and finished just after 10.30).
I love his use of vocabulary, and how he phrases things together. It’s very much him, and I love it so much. If you can catch him live, I definitely say DO IT.
Such a great way to have a date night with Andrew, catch some laughs, and enjoy each other’s company without having to think about “adult life things”.
