*The following product was sent to me for review consideration. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
I was so excited when this dropped into my PO box actually back in February.
It came at the perfect time too – I had just run out of shampoo. I didn’t want to rush the review, so I’ve been using this product consistently for the last few months. The packaging is pretty sleek, and looks quite nice sitting in my bathroom.
The 3 step Beauty-Full line is taking a different approach to how you wash your hair – conditioning first, and then washing. This helps keeps the volume, since conditioner is heavy on your hair. I do enjoy using conditioner first, and then shampooing.
Step 1 – Conditioner
Like all conditioners, a little goes a long way. I enjoy the fact that it has a pump, but I can see when I start getting low on product it will be annoying when I’m in the shower. It also would be something that could easily break if I didn’t have a shower niche built in. The product smells nice, but I actually prefer the smell of the shampoo over the conditioner. I only use this on my ends, and it does make my hair feel nice.
Step 2 – Shampoo
As I mentioned above, I enjoy the scent of this one. It’s a little fruity, I think, which is probably why I enjoy it. I typically use this more than the conditioner – I am notoriously bad at conditioning my hair. Plus, sometimes my hair just doesn’t need it (although my mom begs to differ).
Step 3 – Volume & Softness Hair Maximizer
I’m not big on product for my hair, so I barely used this. I’m still not 100% sure what this is supposed to do… ? According to the website, it’s to help add volume to your hair without making your hair sticky or crunchy – keeping that soft feeling. It definitely did keep my hair soft when I used it, and probably did help with the volume. But this isn’t a product I’d use regularly, if ever.
I don’t know if this product helped with the volume of my hair – if I lightly blow dry it, and then sleep on it, it did seem a little fuller and bouncier, but I can’t say for certain it was due to the products or not. If I didn’t sleep on it, my hair would stay fairly straight and normal.
Overall, it’s a decent shampoo/conditioner set. I do notice that when I use the conditioner, I tend to lose quite a bit more hair than just the shampoo alone, and my hair does get greasier faster. On my hair, which I’d classify as thicker but not dry as I do get greasy easily, it’s alright. It doesn’t make my eczema any worse, which is good, but it also doesn’t fix it either. I also have colour treated hair, and it does strip the colour quickly. I’d avoid this if you want to keep your colour longer!
I would be more inclined to use the shampoo again (if I stopped dying my hair), but I realize that defeats the purpose of the 3 step system.
