Beauty :: March LuxeBox

Ahhh already that time of the month. Luxeboxes are out! And it’s always exciting to get that butterfly feeling in your stomach of “Is it going to be there when I get home?” and “I wonder what’s in it this month!”

As always, it’s like it’s designed for me. Made for Jasmine. I think that always makes it so much nicer. Even if one month they spelt my name wrong (forgot the e at the end…) Still pretty awesome. A while back, Loose Button introduced the feature where you can request one item in your box. Most of the time I came to late to that party, but this month I actually had the pick of all three. I got to choose which one, and actually think about it for a bit. Talk about on top of the game there.

This month is also their one year anniversary, and in honour of that they gave out a card that was biodegradable and had wildflower seeds in it. So you just put it in a pot with some dirt and water it, and wait for it to grow. I was excited about it, but right now I’m not sure where I put it down last… Oops. I’ll find it eventually. Anyways, on with the good stuff!

Ta-da! Open it up inside, and what awaits. I got another little MyScents goodie bag, which included a smaller sample of CK Shock, Vera Wang LoveStruck, and Marc Jacobs Oh Lola. All of which I liked and didn’t find super offensive to my nose. Sometimes perfume is WAY to floral for me, and I can’t handle the scent. These, I actually all enjoyed. I’m on the hunt again for a new perfume, so this is a good start.

Next up, it’s all for the eyes. Cargo Lash Activator mascara, and Cargo Glitter Top Coat. The glitter top coat is the item that I requested, and I don’t know what I was doing when I requested it, but I completely thought it was something else. Regardless, it’s still pretty awesome. Super glittery, and would look amazing over your black liquid liner. I just wore it by itself today, just because. Made me look a little crazy, in a- “Hey, is that girl wearing glitter…. on her eyes?”-kinda way. But whatever. It was super easy to apply, and I think it’d be less sticky if I actually used it properly [what a thought]. I don’t know if I’d use it enough to fork over $18 for the full size. Great for a sample though. I also wore the mascara. And I actually quite like it. I have no idea if all the things it says it’s supposed to do [help with density, make them stronger] actually is true, but it’s a nice mascara. Makes your lashes look fuller, but doesn’t make them stiff like some. It’s really nice to make your eyes still look fairly natural. Doesn’t have a chemical odour, and it doesn’t bug my eyes. Always a plus. I think I would spend the $35 that it costs though, although it is a bit of a jump, I already pay $30, so it wouldn’t be extreme. Although I am on a budget, so it probably wouldn’t be soon. But I will definitely be using the rest of the tube.

Last, and kind of least… Is the J.R. Watkins hand cream in Lavender. First off, the scent is wayyyy to strong for me. My least favourite scent is anything floral, and this just is intense. I gave it to my mom [who really liked the scent] but to me, lavender totally reminds me of my grandmother. A wee bit to old for me, especially when it’s that strong. So, this was a miss. Although I generally like trying new creams too.

And finally, next month [April] will be my last month of LuxeBox. I’ve finally decided to stop it, it’s been kind of on my mind for awhile, and now that things are progressing with the move, it’s time to face facts. I don’t need it, and I don’t need to be spending money unnecessarily on this. I just can’t justify it anymore. Luckily for me, there was the exact comment in the “why are you leaving” section. I can honestly say I don’t know if I’ll start it back up again. I might never be able to truly justify the cost, and I don’t really need the samples, I just want the samples. Haha, big difference. So we shall see.

I hope everyone enjoyed their monthly sample packages!!
