Beauty :: Korean Love

I am completely obsessed with all things Korean right now, and their beauty products are no exception.

With the whole BB cream craze that happened a couple years ago, Korean beauty hit the mainstream North American market. It hasn’t left. I’m a little late to the Korean beauty train. I’ve dabbled with face masks before, and some of their lip products, but was never really at the point where I needed a refill of a specific product. And let’s be real: it’s a little overwhelming, and there aren’t many places that it was accessible (other than downtown Toronto).

BUT I realized a couple months ago that Real Canadian Superstores (Loblaws/Joe Fresh) has a WHOLE Korean Beauty section. Consider my mind blown. I promptly purchased all of the Tony-Moly face sheets (review to come), and took home a small sample of Missha’s BB Cream. Sephora is another retailer that carries higher end Korean lines, but they can be daunting (and expensive).

I love the look of all the cosmetics, and after watching so many dramas, their skin is SO good. So I’m definitely going to be adding some more of their makeup/skincare to my shopping cart. I also obsessively watch them while they’re doing any type of skin care routine in the show to see what they are doing and how. (You mean, you don’t..?).

The sample of the BB cream was so nice. Incredibly light, but great coverage (as it was during a bad skin time), and didn’t feel like it was clogging or drying out my skin. It also wasn’t super greasy after a period of time which is a huge plus.

I’m about to run out of face cream and toner, so I have my eye on purchasing a couple items and they’re going to be Korean. Any suggestions for a newbie getting into the market? Or should I just go for the more popular brands, like Missha or AmorePacific? I can’t wait to get some purchases under my belt and get my reviews up!
