I decided that I couldn’t pass up the chance to try the makeup from the HEMA.
I didn’t really purchase much makeup or beauty items while I was away in the Netherlands. But when we walked into the HEMA I knew I was walking out with something. It’s a little like a Target/Zellers except actually amazing (especially since in Canada Target did not do well).
They have everything from clothing to grocery; beauty to household items. They even have a take away counter. I’m pretty sure if I lived in the Netherlands, I would be spending all my money here. I was immediately drawn to the rather large collection of makeup items. I don’t like actually trying out the face foundations or anything, but I am always immediately drawn to lips and eyes.
I spent so much time in the beauty aisles that I didn’t walk around the entire store. Is that a marketing win? I think so, HEMA.
I decided that I would try their Easy Shine lip balm, in chubby stick form. The colour is amazing. I love the pigmentation, the moisture, and the ease of use. I purchased one that is my favourite colour range, Number 08. No fancy names here for their products. Just good products. This is one that I swipe on in the morning, blot, and go. If I feel like I need more colour during the day, I’ll either just add some chapstick to move it around again, or I’ll swipe on another colour to bring it back to life.
I also purchased their soft eyeliner pen. Hands down my favourite eyeliner now! I’m going to be so sad when I run out, I’m going to need to ask my cousin to send me some more! It’s easy to control the thickness of your line, and the colour is true black. Even with my oily eyelids, it doesn’t smudge as bad as others I’ve tried. I still set it using eyeshadow, but it definitely lasts all day.
If I were to go back to the Netherlands, I’d definitely look into more of their beauty line, grab handfuls of the eyeliner, and one of every colour in their lipsticks.
Don’t you love it when makeup is so affordable, yet so good!? Don’t believe me? Check out BritainReviews* for more user reviews and ratings for the HEMA and hundreds of other companies that you use every day.
I also visited Delft, The Hague, and Scheveningen while wandering around the Netherlands. I already want to go back!
