Nothing beats a long weekend, especially when you get to head out of the city and straight to the cottage.
Andrew left Wednesday for the cottage this time, and I headed up after work on Thursday. Yes, traffic was pretty bad. But the conversations in the vehicle more than made up for that. Hells yeah for 2 hours of straight up girl chat. It’s times like that when you realize that I do need and crave the interaction with the female population.
This weekend was just a lot of crazy fun with a lot of crazy fun people. I got my annual drink on, and mainly just chilled outside. Thursday night was amazing. We arrived just before midnight (everyone was really still up), and I just went out on the boat, lied down and stared up at the sky. The sky up north is UNREAL. It was completely cloudless, and so many stars. I saw about 15 shooting stars, and one that made me gasp audibly, it was so bright and big. I just felt immersed. I didn’t even try to take a photo of it, I knew it wouldn’t do it justice.
Unfortunately Friday wasn’t the best weather but we all made it a good time. Watching movies (like Finding Nemo), and just talking and laughing. The guys went out on the trails because they were extremely muddy. There was a little bit of water skiing, too.
Saturday and Sunday is where the weather picked up this weekend. Sunny and hot, I got a lot of tanning done. I got a little bit of prep done for some writing I want to do, and pretty much slept the rest of the Saturday away. Silly me! But I won’t lie, it felt damn good. Sunday’s weather was even better and it felt awesome to soak up some more sun. Sunday’s always a little bit of a wind-down day since everyone’s usually getting ready to go home. That means no drinking (since I was driving) and cleaning up and just taking it easy. We actually watched a couple of the soccer games as well, and it was just so nice.
There’s just something about being right by the water that soothes the soul a little bit, right? How was your long weekend? Also, Happy Birthday to my little bro!
