Movie :: New Year’s Eve

Ah, another one of those movies that has a bajillion A-List cast members. I mean, this one doesn’t get anymore A-List either. Hilary Swank. Robert DeNiro. Jon Bon Jovi. Michelle Pfieffer. John Lithgow. Sarah Jessica Parker. Halle Berry. Even a little something for the younger crowd. Zac Efron. Ashton Kutcher. Lea Michelle. Josh Duhammel. Ludacris.
I have to say it. I loved it. It was ridiculous, and it was awesome. Zac Efron makes my life, I won’t lie. He’s a sexy piece of man-candy, and he’s funny. Michelle Pfeiffer is in her dowdiest role I can ever think of. She’s mousy, she’s non-descript, she’s pathetic. Especially since she’s usually playing kick ass villian roles [Catwoman, Hairspray, Stardust]. Ashton Kutcher is hot. Sure, he’s a bit of an idiot in real life, but hey, he’s hot. Lea Michelle gets to sing with Jon Bon Jovi, and Katherine Heigl makes out with him. And slaps him, multiple times.

A couple of the great moments were when Russell Peters showed up on screen and was doing his Indian accent, along with Sofia Vergara’s very Spanish one. They were hilarious together. Matthew Broderick showed up as Mr. Buellerton [holla at Ferris Bueller’s Day Off!].

This movie literally can span every age group. There’s the 15 year old group wanting to get out on their own for New Year’s. The 20-ish group with Zac Efron and Ashton Kutcher. The 40+ group dealing with either work, new jobs, new romance, etc. It was well done. Nothing serious, nothing ridiculously shocking, and you got a glimpse of amazing Louboutins on the feet of Sarah Jessica Parker.

This one is great for ideas to do for New Year’s, or just a great girls night in on a cold winter night.
3/5 stars from me!
