Toronto :: National Women’s Show

What a crazy weekend at the Metro Toronto Convention Center. The National Women’s Show was on, as well as the Bridal show. As much as I would have liked to go to the Bridal show, I’m not getting married any time soon, and couldn’t use up both days of my weekend. I still did have some homework that I needed to get done.

I was up by 8, and out of the door by 8.45. I dropped Andrew off at his place, and his buddy dropped me off at the subway so they could use his truck for work that day. I made it to the show grounds at pretty much 10 on the dot. I was meeting Valentina there, but she was running late. So I went in and meandered around for about an hour, and did a bunch of shopping and met some really nice ladies. I actually got a lot done in that hour that I was waiting for her.

There’s so much to see at the show. It was nice being there right at the beginning because I got the goodie bag, and then I entered pretty much every contest possible. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the $500 Tiffany & Co giftcard!! I got my alignment looked at, and apparently my posture isn’t as great as I thought it was! So they recommended me looking into orthotics [but right now I’m just going to wait on the exercises they said they would send me]. I also picked up every sample available.

There’s such an eclectic mix of things at this show, ranging from health and beauty to pets, to mortgage specialists for women. The nice thing about going early is that it’s not super busy yet, so I didn’t have to wait in lines to get talked to. I went to Whiskas and got a goodie bag with cat food, treats and their new pate. Pet Valu was also there and I was able to talk to them about foods and my mom’s dog with all her issues.

I then got suckered into buying a straightner. Aha, I say suckered but not really. I have been on the lookout for a new one since my current one is complete shite. This is where I made friends with the sales girl, and another woman who was working at the show in another booth. We both bought them together, so the girl gave us a deal, and she threw in a bunch of freebies. The lady I bought it with then told me to visit her booth and then she gave me a bunch of freebies too! At that point, Valentina called me to say she’s arrived so we met up and began to wander around the aisles.
I saw these adorable dresses, and hummed and hawed about them. In the end, I did buy them because they were just to cute to pass up! Also, was given a deal because I bought 3 and paid cash, so I saved $15. I’ll take it! The entire show didn’t take us as long as we thought, and we weren’t hungry for a big meal for lunch because we kept eating all the samples. Mm. So we went for coffee because we were thirsty! And we had one drink that left a terrible taste in our mouths. We chilled in Starbucks for an hour, chatting and people watching. Grabbed the subway home, and then went our separate ways.
It was a great day, even though it was a little crowded I definitely got introduced to new brands and did a wee bit of shopping. I can’t wait to wear my new dresses. They’re so adorbz!
