Life :: Delft Blue

Our first day trip from the Hague was to the picturesque city of Delft.

Another breezy day, but it was sunny for our trip out to Delft. We hopped on the streetcar and puttered our way there. It’s so easy to get every where! So, yes, I froze my ears off again, but once we were in the sun it was completely fine.

We walked over the canals, browsed the super cute little shops, bought pastries and chocolate, before making our way to the city centre.

The city centre (which was a little bit under construction), and all of the Delft pottery. I bought a couple things while here (that I can’t show… Christmas presents!) but I also bought macarons. Om nom.

We ate pannekoeken, which was extremely filling but so, so good. Mom and I split ours together, since I couldn’t decide between a savoury or a sweet one. She went with the sweet, so I got the best of both worlds. Although, truthfully, the sweet one was much better and I probably should have stuck with the classic.

I love the way that you get tea (or coffee) over there. Always with a cookie! Nom nom. I had a great time moseying around the shops, and while it’s pretty touristy, it’s still got that classic feel to it. We actually met a very nice, antique/pottery dealer in the square who was an ex-pat from the US. He had some awesome stuff as well, but all a little bit out of my price range (and suitcase compatibility!).

Have you been to Delft? What would you do differently?
