Ahh… the first day back to work in the new year, just chilling with my Starbucks latte. I feel rather behind in all my blog reading/emails/blog updates. Not that I had any time to blog during the Christmas holidays, dinners and not being near an internet connection can do that. Still, makes me feel a little bit overwhelmed in the catch-up game.
This picture was taken later in the evening… My bad about the slippers! Betsey Johnson dress. |
Where to begin!? I guess at Andrew’s Christmas Party (Friday the 23rd). So. Much. Fun. It was a dressy party, so I wore the dress I bought for my company Christmas party. It was fun, and I changed so many times, because I was playing some beer pong and didn’t want to ruin my dress. Longest game of beer pong ever, Melissa and I sucked so bad. We were losing, but had an epic comeback and actually won. It was actually really impressive. I got drunk(ish) and was happy that Paul and Gareth came out. It was a great time, there was fooseball, beer pong, hanging out and just talking, SO much food. I was just hanging out with everyone, and having a great time. I had so much energy! Only one girl (that I know of) puked, and then she left. She wasn’t eating much and drinking a lot, so it wasn’t surprising. Andrew didn’t really remember much the next day, but it was a lot of fun reminding him what happened. That’s always the best part. I actually was a little hungover the next morning… Shocking, considering I never am. I then headed home to clean up and do some baking and get ready for Andrew’s Polish Christmas eve.
Andrew’s Polish side of Christmas was interesting. I didn’t really know what to expect, Andrew wasn’t really forthcoming with information. I enjoyed myself, but felt actually like a really picky eater, and I’m so not. Dinner started with cold dishes: herring in tomato, herring in onions, and catfish in carrots. I’m usually all for seafood, but herring is one fish I do not do. The catfish wasn’t bad, but it was cold… We then moved onto potato salad, and then salmon (which was warm) and then onto perogies. I tried everything, but by the time the perogies came I was full. There were blueberry perogies, and mushroom perogies. I couldn’t eat any more. They all kinda pressured me to eat more, but I couldn’t. It was one more bite will make me throw up. No thanks. Afterwards there was the gift exchange and then we headed to midnight Mass. I never thought that would ever happen in the history of Jasmine, going to a church on Christmas Eve. It was interesting… I didn’t burn to the fiery ashes of hell upon entering. Always a good thing. I always feel out of place in a church, like a huge lie. But I survived. Undecided about going next year though… We shall see. After Mass, we headed back to his house and watched some of The League (hilarious fantasy football show) and then I headed home.
Christmas Morning!! Spent with the family, upset because my cinnamon buns did not turn out the way I wanted them too (and they looked so perfect!) but it was time well spent. Opened our stockings, I got a hat, some mugs, and WOOT my Kitchenaid food processor. Fabulous. Family started coming over around 4.30-ish, and with them came all the things that I bought online. So excitinnng. Andrew’s present came, my pretty Kate Spade wallet. My Benefit makeup/face cleansers and my new body cream came! Happy, happy, happy. Dinner with the family was interesting as always, with my aunt getting drunk and hitting on Andrew… *cough* not awkward at all. Dinner was delicious, and I love being with Andrew!
Boxing Day was spent at Andrew’s dad’s side of the family. Traditional fare, turkey, cranberry sauce, salads. The usual. Some gift exchange, which I felt awful about afterward. I didn’t bring anything. Bad Jasmine. But it was pretty laid back, we left fairly early and headed over to his buddy, Alex’s house for Risk. I watched tv and fell asleep and then we went home!
And that was pretty much the busiest weekend of my life. Crazy. It was awesome spending the holidays with his family and Andrew. It made me so happy!
