Temporary tattoos done by LIGHTS?
Take. My. Money.
I don’t think it’s any secret that I love tattoos. I love the process, I love how they look, and I love how they make me feel.
It’s also not a secret that I absolutely LOVE Lights. I’ve been ride or die since the early days (Yay, Canadian Music!) and it’s been super exciting seeing what she’s been getting up to these days during the pandemic. Tattooing, knife throwing, making music, creating comics, and just being a badass mom. One of the few concerts I went to before COVID hit was one of hers! 10/10 recommend, would see again.
So the fact that she did a collab with Inkbox was just the push that I needed to finally try out Inkbox.
I purchased the entire Lights collection (Lights Collab set).
The Collab comes with 8 temporary tattoos and the primer wipes. I’m not sure if it was an error, but I didn’t receive the tattoo of the hand holding the flame, but I did just get a cursive ‘Always’ instead which I was pretty happy about so I didn’t say anything. The ‘always’ gave me some Harry Potter vibes so it was a win.
I’ve loved being able to try out multiple different areas that I’ve been tempted to get a tattoo just to see how I feel before it’s permanently on my body. This definitely has helped me figure out my next tattoo *hint it’ll be a knife* and placement *I’m obsessed over a sternum one*
I’ve always wanted to get this tattoo because her album/comic, Skin & Earth, was absolutely amazing and it just hit me on another level, you know? How music just resonates with a part of you and it doesn’t matter how many times you listen to it, it seems like it’s the first time? That tattoo is one that is from the comic and it’s an easy one to put really anywhere on the body. I’ll probably buy a couple more of these to try out different placements to figure out where I want it to end up.
Thoughts on getting a perfect Inkbox transfer
The last three that I did (these thigh ones and one on my forearm) were the best done. It does take a little trial and error. I found that placing them at night when it’s cooler and I’m not doing anything other than reading or watching tv helps keep me cool so I don’t sweat, as well as make the time pass faster. So yes: No sweating. Letting them sit for longer than an hour also helps with the transfer. An hour is fine, but I left these on for 4 hours and the transfer was pretty much perfect.
I showered the day before, and I did shave the area as well. I used the primer wipes as instructed. Some of the locations were tough to place one handed, or standing. Looking back I probably should have laid down to do the sternum one, and probably should have had help for the one I place on my ribcage. But, hindsight is 20-20 right? I actually found the clavicle placement to be the hardest as it kept moving!
The sternum one I also placed in the afternoon right after my shower, and I think I sweat too much for an accurate transfer. I also left it for exactly an hour (I timed it). So definitely do the transfer when you aren’t going to be doing anything strenuous or it’s not hot outside.
I also got a smaller finger bundle which I haven’t used yet. I’m probably going to do them all at once, I just need to figure out which fingers to put them on.
Final Inkbox thoughts
Would I repurchase? Definitely. The bundles are worth the money, but individually they aren’t terribly priced either. I think I’ll get some different ones that are a little out of my comfort zone as well as some for Andrew. I’m of the mind that Andrew is a person that tattoos don’t really suit, so it’ll be interesting to see how he looks with some temporary ones.
Since I know I won’t be able to get another tattoo for at least another year, this will definitely tide me over in the meantime. Plus, it gives me ideas even though I really don’t need them.
Have you tried them? Are you going to give them a go? Let me know!
