I took a lot of photos, but I’m being picky about which ones to showcase here.
Monday was another great day, bright and sunny. We decided that we were just going to walk around and see where our feet took us. We tried to make our way to one site, but somehow never made it there. It was lovely roaming around the streets until we were tired, I did a little more shopping, and we ate some good food.
That’s the lovely thing about Boston, you can walk almost the whole downtown of the city. Definitely handy. And when we didn’t want to walk back to the hotel, we hopped on the trolley tours and then got a little tour along the way.
Tuesday dawned nice and wet. Cloudy, rainy, and a little bit windy. And this was the day that we chose to take the full trolley tour, and hopped on and off as we chose, sometimes choosing to stay in the dryness of the trolley instead of getting off [cough, Fenway Park].
It was really great seeing all the places, and I would dearly love to go back during the summer when it’d be nice to walk around and see all the gardens in full bloom. Like, Rose Kennedy gardens, with the 104 rose bushes, one for every year of her life. That would be stunning in the summer. We also walked through the memorial for World War II, and that was really quite moving, especially in the night and the slight fog and the misty rain.
We walked through that after the game. I actually really enjoyed myself, and it was a great experience. I really got into it by the end, and I was cheering loudly when we won! We had a bit of an early night because everything was pretty much closed by the time we left the game, so we curled up in bed, watched some HBO and then went to sleep so we could be up early to head home the next day.
