Toronto :: That’s Chic Party

This event was an interesting day. Zubie invited me along with her, and it was a great day hanging out.

We met up around 2.30 since the event was an all day thing, and there was an after party at 7. We  both had no idea what to expect from this event and I had never heard of the make-up brand before.

We arrived at the building that it was being held at, got our name tags, and began browsing the few booths that were at the entrance.

The first booth was Vo Bath & Co. She hand makes the soaps and hand creams, and they all smell so delicious. We tested the hand cream, and it lasted quite a long time. These would make amazing gifts for the lady in your life; could be for your Mom, girlfriend, or best friend. Plus, isn’t her packaging so nice?

Then it opened up to where the make-up brand, Motives Cosmetics, was being showcased. The lady that invited Zubie was the co-creator of the brand. The key selling point of this brand is the customization of the foundation. The makeup artists create a totally customized foundation that fits your skin tone perfectly. If you find that you can’t find a foundation that suits your skintone, or you find that you’re mixing a bunch together, you might be interested in trying out their line. I had a sample created, and the process is quick and simple. You can even add in more coverage, or serums to address specific issues, like anti-aging.

I feel that the price is reasonable, the basic coverage starts at $50.00 CDN, and then any additions are $5 each. It seems comparable to a MAC foundation, and at least it customized to your skin, and you don’t need to  buy one for each season. Make a quick appointment, and they’ll adjust it for you if you get a tan during the summer. The product also felt really nice on your skin. It didn’t feel heavy or cake-y, almost like you weren’t wearing anything.

There were a bunch of food bloggers, and some baked goods for sale and sample. It was a great networking event, as there were quite a lot of entrepreneurial, food, fitness, fashion and beauty bloggers. It was an interesting mix of people. We didn’t end up staying the for after-party, since the event wasn’t big enough to kill 4 hours before it. Zubie and I were also starving since finger foods aren’t exactly filling. We headed to Jack Astor’s for nachos and lobster dip. So filling and so delicious.

I didn’t purchase anything while there, but definitely would think of trying the custom foundation, if I ever got into wearing it more regularly. I much prefer BB cream, or tinted moisturizers. Would you consider this brand? Have you tried them? What are your thoughts?
