Disclaimer: While this post might have some items that were given to me, all opinions are my own. I do love their products a lot!
It’s August, and you know what that means? Back to School SHOPPING!!!
I know. Who wants to think about that right? Obviously, this girl right here. I think that I’ve always been super excited at this time. It meant getting to see friends again, finding out who was going to be in your classes, where your locker was going to be… all the good stuff! Plus, it meant I got to spend copious amounts of time in the pen and paper section of Wal-Mart or Staples.
This year, I’m not back in class, which I’m actually glad of, but I still feel that same age old excitement when I see the school flyers come out. I have to say, as I get older and wiser, I’m less drawn to the “cheap stuff” and more interested in purchasing items that will last me longer, and work better. There’s nothing worse than getting pens that last less than a week because they dry out or just aren’t strong enough writers to begin with! That’s where MUJI Canada comes in.
I was invited to the MUJI Canada head office to see what exciting things they had to add to my ever growing stationary pile. I’ve posted about this brand before, and I’ve seen images of their products on sites like Tumblr, etc. but I had no idea how the company itself was run and their values. The office is pretty much exactly what you’d think of when you think of MUJI. Clean lines, minimal and white. If I lived in an apartment, I would want it to look like MUJI.
I got there super early, and everyone was extremely nice and welcoming. Vanessa, their Customer Relations [who is also a boss lady who can speak 3 languages!], greeted me and made me feel welcome. I got down to the business of taking photos. Once more of the guest bloggers showed up, they started with an overview of the company with an introduction from the CEO – in Japanese. So awesome. I’m such a nerd for the Japanese language too. He talked about the values of the company, and what MUJI is trying to achieve. MUJI is big on creating eco-friendly products that help sustain the places where they’re created as well. As they said, “…materials that are good for those who wear it, as well as those who make it…”
Then, we got to play with the stationary.
A room full of (mainly) women all geeking out over the products that MUJI carry. Especially the stamping station. I’m super excited for the new store that they hinted about: it’s going to be massive. I am giddy with excitement. I know that the MUJI stores in Japan are huge and have a much bigger offering of items, and it looks like we’ll be getting something similar soon? They weren’t revealing any details other than it’s going to be 1.5x bigger than the Yonge/Dundas location.
If you want to get your hands on anything MUJI, now is the time! They’re having a sale of 15 to 20% off certain items (stationary, housewares, clothing) until August 15, 2016! I think I’m going to have to run to Square One to see about getting some bowls.
I know, this is all well and great, but what’s up with the giveaway? Well, read on my friends! I’ve put together a little sampling of some of the items that were graciously given to me that night.
