In honour of the National Ballet of Canada; Briana and I stepped out in our glory to celebrate the ballet.
I’ve been wanting to attend one of their gala events for awhile but never had anyone to go with [Andrew’s been to the ballet, and needless to say once was enough]. I was so excited when Briana was ready to jump at the chance to join me.
This year’s theme was Dangerous Love, and although I didn’t dress to the theme, I was definitely enjoying the theme! I wore my Betsy Johnson cocktail dress, and I think, sufficiently ballet themed enough with my tulle skirt. It was amazing because I got lots of compliments on my dress [even while on the subway!] and I felt so pretty! Briana, of course, looked stunning as always in a sleek colorblock dress.
We arrive in perfect time, just enough to mingle [with no one] and grab a bottle of water before they started ushering us to our seats. Our seats were amazing. We were the second row from the stage, and could see the orchestra and the dancers in all their glory. The dancing was amazing, as always. Mesmerizing, in fact. Especially Enkeli, the one choreographed by principal dancer Guillaume Cote. Of course they were all amazing, and totally had me wishing that I was a prima ballerina. I just had to settle with my tulle dress and wash my sorrows away with SKYY vodka cocktails, which were delicious. Definitely a drink I might just have to have around all summer.
We had a lot of fun mingling with all the fancily dressed people, getting our photos taken in the photo booth and by the photographers walking around. It made us feel like we were someone ;).
One of the highlights of the night for me was introducting myself to Jen McNeely of SheDoesTheCity. We chatted about the ballet and why she started the site in the first place, and then of course to make it official, took an Instagram. Totally made me feel like a fangirl though, because I’ve been reading the site for so long. But this is the summer that I’m actually attempting to go out to more of the events that they’re always writing about!
