Did you know Toronto has TWO K-POP CONVENTIONS in May???
Since I’ve recently jumped face first onto the Korean Pop (K-Pop) scene, I had no idea this was even a thing. It actually showed up on my Instagram feed, just before bed one night, and I immediately fan-girled. Andrew doesn’t really understand the obsession, but he just nods and goes to sleep. I then obsessively researched the hell out of it, and looked up all of the artists that are going to be there.
HallyuNorth – May 6 & 7, 2016
This con seems a little more rounded than the one below, and it’s a bit cheaper. Not as many concerts though so that’s probably why. I’m going to go to this one, I just purchased my ticket for the day pass on Friday. I’m excited to see what kind of cultural and more beauty related items this one might have. As well as the music, of course!
K-Pop Con 2016 – May 21 – 23, 2016
So, this is the 2nd year that this convention has been around, and it feels like more of a concert than a convention (from online). There are 4 bands performing: VIXX, DAY6, GOT7, and GFRIEND.
Some of the concerts are already sold out, but they come with all weekend pass for the convention. There are different tiers of tickets – which allow you to get certain perks. There’s fan-meets, and photo ops included at the highest level of concert tickets.
As I am on a strict budget right now, I’m hoping that I can just get to go for the day, which starts at $44/day, $66/weekend (available here). Fingers crossed that I’ll be able to make it for one of the days, but it is on the May 24 long weekend.
I have absolutely no idea what to expect for the convention part of this, but I’m almost too excited to find out about this.
