Toronto :: Drinks at the Drake 150

Drinks? On a Tuesday? Unheard of for me!

Last week, a bunch of the girls and I went out for drinks and some food to see Maurissa off on her new journey to Calgary. It was a “Come Back Soon” party, since she still plans on visiting often! Love these girls, they are always so full of fun and inspiring conversations! The night was spent in laughter, and even though we haven’t known each other long, we definitely have forged some strong bonds.

The Drake 150, which opened in summer 2013, has become a staple in the financial district of Toronto. With its stunning decor, and delicious menu, it’s definitely a place to hit. And I had never heard of it before last week.

Easily accessible, I took the streetcar (brr), and walked from Queen down to Adelaide, on York St. A quick walk, and I was in the door. Greeted by two lovely hostesses, who offered coat check, she walked me to my table. The vibe of the place is really nice. It’s loud, but not overbearingly so. We could still hear each other at the table. A lot of business men having a drink after work, for sure.

The food is so good. It’s definitely more creative than your run of the mill restaurant (like Jack Astor’s, etc), with items like Boar Bolognese, oysters, and lobster. I had already eaten my main dinner at home, so I picked up a little appetizer, the Drake + Bake. Just some bread and spreads. So good though. Warm bread, eggplant ragu… Walnut crisp crackers. Yum!

The night ended with an exciting offer of shots from the table across the way, to help mend a broken heart of the guy who’s girlfriend had just left. By all means, lead the way! So it was a great way to meet some nice people, and wrap up an evening.

While the night seemed to end too soon, but still was up too late, I jumped into bed and snoozed away until I realized I had to work in the morning.
