Shopping In Buffalo

Nothing better than spending a Saturday down in the States to pick up some deals. (And browse some brands that aren’t available up here). The main reason I wanted to go to the States was to buy Ugg boots. We do have them up here (in glorious Canada) but I’m always outraged at the injustice of the markup that we get. It doesn’t matter that the Cdn/US dollars are pretty much the same, it’s brutal to see things that are 50, 60, 100 dollars cheaper over there, before exchange rate. But, I won’t rant to much about it.

When we head into the States, the easiest one for us is the Walden Galleria (and surrounding stores) in Buffalo. As long as the border isn’t packed, it’s fairly quick to get across. An hour and a half drive, which is really nothing. We left a little later on Saturday than we were supposed to, but it allowed us to actually check out this tack store, Horseworld Emporium, which is a cute, (albeit cluttered) tack and gift store, with a variety of things. The woman who works there also does leatherwork, and tooling, and so I bought a cute little Sheriff star badge for my brother, it was good quality. Plus, for 5 bucks, can’t go wrong.
Arriving at the Galleria, we were starving so we had a lunch of appetizers at P.F. Chang’s (so, so good.) We had the chicken lettuce wraps (a neat no-carb way to have a wrap), pork dumplings, and the crispy green beans. Omg. So filling and so good. Portions were perfect for the two of us, although we did have some food leftover, so if we had one other person it would have been good. Mm, I’m starting to get hungry just thinking about the food.  After lunch, we headed into Sephora. Bridget never really shopped there before, and I introduced her to it. I am an avid shopper there (as you know) and being in the States there are brands that we don’t get. Like, First Aid Beauty. I did a lot of researching on this company while I was looking for a new face regime (something that helps skin clarity and discolouration, damn you acne!) and this one seemed to be the perfect one for me. So, as I was browsing the shelves, I actually missed it the first time around. I had to ask, and so glad I did, because he gave me a value kit, full sized products but half the price! So good. And he also gave me a sample of the cleanser (which I also really like). So I bought that, a full size of the Benefit Total Moisturizer, and a full size High Beam. I also noticed that a brand that Shopper’s Drug Mart carries is in the US Sephora stores, interesting. It’s funny how that totally makes me trust the brand more.

Onwards around the mall, we then hit up Macy’s, which didn’t have what I wanted, and Bridget doesn’t need more clothes so we didn’t browse. We headed to Lord and Taylor, and they had the Uggs! I tried them on, of course all the display shoes weren’t my size or had a price on them, (of course). Thankfully the gentleman brought out the last size ten, which fit, and I scooped them up. Finally got to find out how much they were once I paid for them… but they were only $220.00 (compared to $300.00 here). So happy with this purchase though, they totally make me want to go to the cottage right now. And frolic in the snow. With Andrew. *cough*
Moving on. I have a not so strange obsession with lingerie, so going into Frederick’s of Hollywood is not such an ordeal (it’s another one that we don’t have up here). And I am so glad that we did. Sale racks everywhere! The last time I went in was with Andrew before Christmas (here) and some of the stuff I bought this time I had been eyeing then. Things that were regularly 62-70 bucks on sale for 29!!! I nearly died of shock. I picked up 2 corsets ($29), 2 slips ($19, down from $24) and this cute dress ($29). I’ve been looking for a sequin dress for the longest time, but I’ve never been willing to part with more money for something that was shoddily made. This one is a cool gradient blue, tiny sequins that seem really close to the material so it won’t pull as easily. Phew. And, if it does, I won’t feel like crying that I spent a shitload on it. I can’t wait to go partying in it.
We did a quick stop in Spencer’s, and I saw the hilarious Hello Titties shot glass, and immediately had to buy it for Andrew. Of course, all shot glasses were buy 1 get on 50% off, so that how I ended up with my ever classy Domo-kun one. So cute! Not that I really drink… But you never know when you might need one!
I hope everyone had a great weekend as well, hopefully didn’t spend as much money as I did!
xoxo
