Recap :: Weekend No. 50

So close to the damn end of the year. The countdown to Christmas has begun [one more week]! Super excited for this year’s festivities, even though I’m not going to be as busy this year as I was last year.

My family’s Christmas dinner is falling on a night that Andrew has a family dinner so I’m not going to go to that one. 2 days of family parties, and then a couple other things thrown in there, I think it’ll be fairly calm. Now that I’ve said it, it’s going to be hectic. I haven’t even given any thought to what I want to bake for Christmas dessert…

Seems like all I did this weekend was clean and bake, and clean up after my baking. It’s not all I did, but sometimes it just feels that way. I attempted making cookies, but I didn’t like the way they turned out at all. So I ended up baking an awesome cake and finding the best cream cheese icing ever, and that’s saying something because I don’t like cream cheese icing. This recipe has jumped to the top of my list, and I’m probably going to be making a couple more by the week’s end.

It was the start of a good weekend, I had the company Christmas lunch, and then I ended up just doing a quick workout instead of yoga on Friday. Andrew and I had dinner with a couple of his friends, and then we headed out to BierMarkt, but there’s always a line and no one felt like waiting in line to get into a place we didn’t really want to go into anyways. So we went to Jack Astor’s, had a couple drinks and some pan bread. Om nom. Headed home after dropping all the guys off, and then was up rather early for my dentist appointment on Saturday.

The nice thing about being up early is that you have SO much day to do stuff in. I was able to get quite a bit of baking in, and grocery shopping, and walked around the mall a bit. OH I also finished up Andrew’s Christmas present, which looks amazing. I’m so proud of it, and this weekend I’m going to finish up my family’s present. Should be just as good! I can’t wait to wrap them all up and give them out. Best time of year!
Andrew’s Present!
Sunday was my barn Secret Santa, and pot luck. Delicious foods, great company, and fun trying to figure out who had me. I still don’t know. 🙁 I actually don’t even know who had me from last year. I have my assumptions… Speaking of that, I haven’t even used it yet!! Maybe I’ll spend it this year? Loves me my gift cards this year. I ended up getting a box of specialty teas for Christmas. I’ll bring them out for Christmas eve and morning and all through the holidays!

Hope everyone had a great weekend, happy Monday!
