Niagara/Buffalo Weekend

Niagara Falls
Ahh, what a busy yet relaxing weekend this was. Taking Friday off is so nice once in awhile. I don’t think I’ve done that since… ever. I don’t really take just days off, it’s usually for some kind of vacation. I now have 3 days of vacation left, and hopefully will be taking more long weekends like this before the end of the year. Way to much fun, and I like going on mini-road trips with Andrew. It’s a great way to just hang out with each other, but breaks up our routine.

We left not as early as I wanted to Friday morning and headed out on the road. I was driving (as we took my car) and we headed into Buffalo. We didn’t make it in to bad time, the border crossing was a little crazy. That took us the longest I think, and I was getting frustrated because Andrew is not a great navigator. He didn’t get us lost, persay, but we had to do a couple circles. But that’s ok, sadly it was already dark so I couldn’t even really look around. C’est la vie. In Buffalo we just went to the Walden Galleria, and it was alright. Did a little bit of shopping, bought some shoes and had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. Continued on with our shopping and then headed back for dinner at his “uncle’s” house (the families are old friends, and he just introduces himself as Uncle John). It was fun meeting new people and seeing Andrew’s parents so.. relaxed. It was good. We then headed out to the turkey raffle that was a fundraiser for the local firehall, which I won one of the turkeys! That was an exciting moment, I never really thought that would happen. The number that we won with was the date of our anniversary too. 🙂 Which makes it even better. So romantic, haha. That was a pretty late night though, didn’t go to bed until 2ish? And then passed right out once in bed.

Om nom nom.

Breakfast in the morning was amazing. I aspire to be like that when I have a family/house. Belgian waffles, meats, fruit, toast, coffee, tea, om nom nom. So good. Belgian waffles are my new favourite breakfast, I think. So delicious. I had them Sunday morning for brunch too. But I digress, Saturday. Andrew took me around to see the farms, and shoot some clay pigeons (woot). Got to see the animals (sheep, rabbits, horses) and just hang out. Ate some more delicious foods, and then later that evening headed into Niagara. For the first bit we just hung out in the hotel room, watching some tv as we weren’t super hungry yet, and had a little nap (such a hard life). Afterwards we went out and walked a little bit to find a restaurent. Andrew wanted to take me to the CopaCabana, but it was an 1hr40minute wait, so we went to another one, Brasa, that only had a 40 minute wait. Very meat heavy. It’s nice to try different kinds of meat though. Had lamb, steak, pork, plus veggies. Yum. Too much meat though, can’t handle it anymore. Damn stomach. So then we went back to the room, and relaxed and watched some tv. We were going to go out to the DragonFly club, but didn’t bring any other clothes, so decided against it. We left Niagara in the afternoon on Sunday, and was home a lot faster than getting there. Love having a car, so that I can just go.

A great weekend, I’m so glad that I did go.
xoxo
