80 books? That’s nothing. What’s the catch?
I came just shy of reaching my goal of 80 books last year – I will admit I got caught up reading more fanfiction than anything else throughout the year. While I understand why fics don’t go on Goodreads, it does make me lazy about recording how much I read through AO3.
The catch this year? I want to read 80 PHYSICAL books off of my OWN bookshelf. WHAT!? Completing my TBR list??? Who am I?
Goodreads Update
I’m updating my Goodreads ‘Want to Read’ list to reflect books that are on my bookshelf and need to be read. It’s not all of them. Should I do all of them? Do I want to know how many books I’ve purchased without reading them are in my house??? I don’t know if I can handle that number. (I did it – it’s at 150 books. Yikes!)
So this year, I’m determined to get through the physical portion of my bookshelf. Will I be able to do it?
Some of the highlights on my shelf:
Iron Flame trilogy – I read the first, then my toxic book trait kicked in and I never finished the series. I haven’t bought Onyx Storm yet because it’s not a super high priority but I should probably knock this one off the list.
Sarah J Maas – I’m slowly trying to collect the Throne of Glass series in paperback through Value Village but I need to finish it. I also have the Crescent City trio that needs to be completed.
Anne Bishop – Since I had to return the fancy versions of the Black Jewels Trilogy (the first 3), I bought the latest books in the Black Jewels series that I hadn’t realized I missed. The Queen’s Bargain, The Queen’s Weapon, The Queen’s Price, and her newest short story collection, The Lady In Glass. This series is the OG fantasy for me, so I’m excited to do (probably) a whole series re-read.

Pierce Brown – Another series that I’m collecting through Value Village. I’ve managed to find Red Rising and Golden Son, so I’m excited about these. I have a pillow from a Fairyloot box that has had me itching to read this series.

Of course, I have a literal hundred other books that are just as exciting to read and I’m about a couple of years behind the trend on all of them (also on brand for me). Let’s go back to reading a physical book instead of e-books and binge-reading on my Kindle.
Is there anything that you’re particularly excited to read this year?
I want to know what you’re dying to read, whether it’s an oldie or something being released this year!
