Movie :: Django Unchained

Ah, Quentin Tarantino, you make my heart beat.

This movie, I find, very reminiscent of Inglorious Basterds. Quentin Tarantino’s spin on history, inputting his own flare and gore.

I’ve never been a huge Jamie Foxx fan, but he was great in the movie. But the real ticker is [obviously] Christoph Waltz. He’s in a much more likable role as a bounty hunter/slave-freer, who frees Jamie Foxx and they turn into Bounty Hunter extraordinaires. Sounds pretty awesome right? Well, it’s even better because there’s always Tarantino’s witty one liners, and monologues and his tongue-in-cheek scriptage. I found myself laughing to tears at some parts.

Of course, the big names that are in it don’t hurt either. Some of the stuff is painful to watch, especially since there is a nugget of truth to it. But that is what Tarantino does. He takes something with a nugget of truth and makes it into a spaghetti western.

Brava, Tarantino. For tackling such a sensitive issue, for making it really not as gory as Kill Bill, but for still keeping true to yourself.
My Rating: 4.5/5 Stars
Also, this comes out on DVD on the 16th!
