Life :: Six Movies To See In 2016

I feel like I haven’t talked about movies in the LONGEST time. My bro stopped writing me reviews of indie movies since he got a job and started going out more.

I haven’t really watched any movies that are new, or exciting. I’ve been watching a lot of movies over and over again. But recently I’ve been going to the movie theatre a bit more than normal (went and saw Jungle Book and Zootopia in theatres with my mom), so I’ve been seeing more trailers than I normally would.

Here are the movies that I want to see this year:

Popstar – Never Stop Never Stopping (June 3) – OMG The Lonely Island. I absolutely love Andy Samberg (I have a huge crush on him), and the three of them together are hilarious. Plus, this means more new Lonely Island music, plus do you see that cast? It will be hilarious. If you watched him in SNL, you should definitely watch Brooklyn Nine Nine – it’s fantastic, and being 20 mins long it’s an easy Netflix binge. All 3 seasons are now available!

Capt. America (April 27) – Ok, this one’s already out so it’s not really a summer movie, but I probably won’t see it in theatres. Although we should because it looks kick-ass. And superhero movies are always better on a large screen.

Suicide Squad (August 3) – Another anti-superhero movie! This one looks insane, and I’m so excited for DC to be getting more coverage. There are so many good plotlines in DC comics that never do as well as Marvel on the big screen. I’m so excited for Justice League and Wonder Woman, but those are next years!

The Angry Birds Movie (May 11) – Ok… So I never got into the whole Angry Birds game movement, I still don’t really understand the craze, but this movie looks hilarious. Just watch the trailer. I’m sorry – the Eagle lake scene made me laugh way harder than it should have (me being a grown ass woman of 27 years still laughs at pee jokes).

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (November 11) – Going back to the magical wizarding world of Harry Potter! Without Harry though, and adding Eddie Redmayne. Yum. I’ve never read this book, but the movie looks good.

The BFG (June 30) – One of my favourite Roald Dahl books growing up, it’s finally getting it’s big screen, live action debut. (Can anyone bring the Witches back… Anjelica Houston was perf for the role though, so I can see why you wouldn’t). But Giants who are stealing children to eat and one that gives them dreams, why wouldn’t you want to see it! But you should probably read the book first. Writing this also makes me want to run out and buy all of his books. I used to have some (Matilda, The Witches, James and the Giant Peach, The BFG), but I think I ended up giving them away. Why would I do that?

Any movies that I should add to this list? Which of these movies are you most excited for?
